We hear your deep pain and the cry of your heart for justice, and we come before the throne of grace together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. First, we must address the spirit of vengeance and bitterness that seems to be fueling this request. Scripture is clear that vengeance belongs to the Lord, and we are called to trust Him with justice rather than seeking to exact punishment ourselves.
The Bible tells us in Romans 12:19, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" It is not our place to demand punishment or shame upon others, no matter how deeply they have wronged us. Instead, we are called to forgive, even when it feels impossible, because Christ first forgave us. Ephesians 4:31-32 says, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
We also notice that your focus seems to be on financial restitution and personal vindication rather than the healing and restoration that God desires for you. While it is understandable to seek justice in earthly matters, we must remember that our ultimate treasure is in heaven, not in material wealth. Jesus warns us in Matthew 6:19-20, "Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal."
We must also rebuke the spirit of unforgiveness and the desire for retaliation. Holding onto anger and bitterness will only harm you further and hinder your relationship with God. Hebrews 12:15 warns, "Looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it." Instead, we are called to bless those who persecute us and pray for those who mistreat us, as Jesus teaches in Luke 6:28, "Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you."
Let us pray together now, lifting this situation to the Lord with hearts that seek His will above our own.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You alone are just and righteous. We lift up this situation to You, Lord, and ask that You would bring healing to the deep wounds that have been inflicted. We pray for Your peace to guard this heart, for we know that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Father, we ask that You would work in this situation according to Your perfect will. If there is earthly justice to be served, we trust that You will bring it about in Your timing and in Your way. But above all, Lord, we ask that You would soften this heart to release the bitterness and anger that has taken root. Help this one to forgive, as You have forgiven us, so that the chains of unforgiveness may be broken. We declare that no weapon formed against this one shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17).
Lord, we also pray for the one who has caused harm. We ask that You would convict their heart of their wrongdoing and lead them to repentance. Your Word says in Ezekiel 18:23, "Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked? says the Lord Yahweh; and not rather that he should return from his way, and live?" We pray that this person would turn from their ways and seek Your face, Lord.
Father, we ask that You would restore what has been lost, not necessarily in the way we expect, but in the way that brings You the most glory. Whether it be financially, emotionally, or spiritually, we trust that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Help this one to place their trust in You alone, knowing that You are their provider and their defender.
Lord, we also pray for those who have mocked or ridiculed this one. We ask that You would open their eyes to see the truth and that they would be led to repentance as well. Soften their hearts, Lord, and help them to see the error of their ways.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would draw this one closer to You. Help them to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all these things will be added to them (Matthew 6:33). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in Your ways and experience the fullness of life that You have promised to those who love You.
We declare that this one is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37). We speak healing, restoration, and peace over this life, and we trust that You are working all things together for good, for those who are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
