Very tired and need a holiday

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I haven't been to the seaside for seven years, nor have I had a holiday for two years. I miss the sea and travelling a little. Please pray in Jesus name that God provides me with an opportunity to rest somewhere else (near the sea or in the mountains). You can also pray for inner rest if you wish, but if you really want to pray with me, then pray for travel.Thank you!

We hear your weariness and longing for rest, and we lift this burden before the Lord in the mighty name of Jesus. The Scriptures remind us in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." The Lord knows your heart’s desire for a time of refreshment, whether by the sea or in the quiet of the mountains. He is the God who provides, and we trust Him to open doors for you in His perfect timing.

We also recognize that true rest begins in the soul. Psalm 23:2-3 says, "He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul." Even as we pray for an opportunity to travel, we ask the Holy Spirit to minister peace to your heart, calming any anxiety or exhaustion that weighs on you.

Father, we come before You as Your children, asking that You would grant our brother/sister a season of rest. Provide the means, the time, and the opportunity for travel, whether through an unexpected blessing, a door of favor, or a moment of reprieve from daily demands. Let this time away be a time of renewal, where they can draw near to You and feel Your presence in a fresh way. We declare that You are Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides, and we trust You to meet this need according to Your riches in glory.

We also pray for protection over their heart and mind, that they would not grow discouraged while waiting. Remind them that You are working even when they cannot see it, and that Your plans for them are good. Strengthen their faith as they wait on You.

In Jesus’ name, we rebuke any spirit of weariness or heaviness that seeks to drain their joy. We declare that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May they find rest not only in a physical place but in the assurance of Your love and care.

Be encouraged, dear one. The Lord sees your longing and hears your prayer. Keep your heart open to His leading, and trust that He will guide your steps to the place of rest He has prepared for you. Until then, lean on Him daily, for He is your strength.

We hear how tired you are, and we can feel the ache in your words, seven years without the sea, two years without a real holiday. That’s a long time to carry weariness without the kind of rest that a change of scenery can bring. It’s not just about being physically tired; it’s the deep need to step away, to breathe different air, to let the rhythm of waves or the stillness of mountains restore something inside you. We’re glad you asked us to pray specifically for travel. Sometimes we need more than inner peace, we need God to open a tangible door.

While you wait for that door to open, maybe you could take a small step this week: look up a seaside or mountain spot online, even if it’s just to dream for a few minutes. Or mark a day on your calendar as a mini rest day, maybe find a local park or lake, a place you can drive to for even a few hours, just to let your mind wander. That doesn’t replace a proper holiday, but it can be a little lifeline.

We’re praying with you now.

Father, thank You for knowing exactly where this beloved child of Yours is right now. You see the exhaustion, the longing for the shore, the desire to travel and rest. In Jesus’ name, we ask You to provide a genuine opportunity, a way to get away, near the sea or into the mountains, whatever would delight this heart and restore this body. Make the path straight, provide the resources, and guard the time so nothing steals it. Until then, meet each day with small mercies and glimpses of hope. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The soul’s weariness speaks of a deeper need, yet the longing for the sea and the mountain is not unknown to the Shepherd. It is a present rest, rest now; not rest after death; not rest after a time of probation and growth and advancement; but it is rest given when we come to Jesus, given there and then. We who have believed do enter into rest. That rest is pictured in some degree by its types. Canaan was a representation of the rest of believers.

Yet know that true rest to the mind of the child of God is rest on the wing, rest in motion, rest in service, not rest with the yoke off, but with the yoke on. We are to enter upon this service voluntarily; we are to take his yoke upon us voluntarily. It is the rest of a learner, Learn of me, and ye shall find rest. Let but your mind be like the mind of Christ, and you shall find rest unto your souls: a deep rest, a growing rest, a rest found out more and more.

You ask prayer for travel and the sight of waters. But in Him we dwell as in a sheepfold, where the sheep lie down and rest. In Him we are in a home where all is love and comfort. Let us not wander from this sacred center of serene repose lest we wander from peace. Further, to give them peace, the Savior went on to speak to them of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, and what the Comforter would do. Beloved, if you want peace, think much of the Divine Comforter.

Rest in the Lord. Now the text does not say rest in anything about the Lord, but rest in the Lord Himself! This is our rest even now, to be with Him. And to be forever with Him will be the perfection of rest. It is this Man who shall be the peace, this Son of God who shall give us rest. Let us then come to Him at once in every case. Yes, let us always abide in Him. His wish is that His joy may be in us and, therefore, He says, These things have I spoken to you, that in Me you might have peace. You will never find rest out of Christ. Trust and you shall rest.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak of weariness and a longing to see the sea and mountains, and you ask for prayer that God would grant you travel and outward rest. I do not dismiss your fatigue; the body is frail and can be exhausted by many labors. Yet I must first ask you to consider what true rest is, and where it is found. You say it has been seven years since you saw the seaside and two since you had any holiday, and you miss these things. But tell me, if you were to stand on the shore tomorrow and breathe the salt air, would your soul find its deep rest there? The waves roll in and roll out, and the sights that delight the eyes pass away. There remains a rest for the people of God, not made by hands, not bounded by shore or summit, but an eternal rest in the life to come. To that rest all our journeying must aim.

I do not forbid you to ask for refreshment of the body. The Lord knows we are dust. He who led Israel through the sea and through the wilderness gave them springs of water and manna from heaven. But remember: they were being led to a promised land, and their hearts were often seduced by the comforts of Egypt. Do not make the mistake of thinking that a change of place is the cure for a soul grown weary under the sun. The rich man who lounges in baths and reclines at sumptuous tables may be walking the broad road that ends in destruction. The narrow road that leads to life often goes through arid places, and yet even there the traveler may have a joy the world cannot give. Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, rejoice. The God of love and peace will be with you, whether you are by the sea or shut up in a narrow room.

I will pray for you as you ask, that God in His mercy may provide some time of bodily repose and perhaps a journey to the coast or the hills, if it be His will and no hindrance to your soul. But if you really want me to pray with you, I will pray much more that you learn the secret of resting inwardly even in toil. What grievous thing does Christ command? Not to cleave mountains or cross the sea, but to love one another and to carry His easy yoke. Covet earnestly the best gifts, and above all charity, and you will find a well of refreshment springing up within you that no holiday can match. The hands minister, the mouth speaks, the whole body works, yet the heart can be at rest when it possesses the love of God. This is the rest that remains, and no one can take it from you. So by all means, ask your Father for what you need, but seek first His kingdom, and let your chief holiday be the peace of Christ in your conscience. Then, whether you travel or stay, you will know that you are already journeying home.

I hear the deep weariness in your words, and I understand that longing to get away, to feel the sea breeze or to breathe mountain air after so long without a real break. Our bodies and minds do need refreshment, and there is nothing wrong with desiring that. I will certainly pray that God opens a door for you to travel and find physical rest in a place that restores your soul.

But as I pray for that, I want to gently point you toward something even more enduring. There is a rest that runs deeper than any holiday can provide. Scripture speaks of a rest God has for His people, a rest we enter into through faith in Jesus Christ. He is our true Sabbath. When we believe, we cease from our own frantic efforts to fix everything, control every outcome, and carry burdens we were never meant to bear alone. That doesn’t mean we won’t grow tired in this life, but it does mean we can have a steady peace underneath it all, knowing our lives are held by a faithful God.

Often we find it hard to rest until we reach the end of our own resources. When there’s nothing else we can do, we finally lean fully on Him. The wonderful thing is that He invites us to that place before we burn out. You can rest in His will, trusting that He is able to care for what concerns you, even when you don’t see the way forward. That is the rest of faith, the kind that remains whether you are at home or standing by the shore.

So I pray this: Father, you see the exhaustion. Please provide a genuine opportunity soon for this one to step away, to travel, and to be renewed in body and spirit beside the sea or among the mountains. But even now, draw them into the deeper rest that is found only in your Son. Help them to cast every care on you, to wait patiently, and to know the quiet confidence that comes from committing all things into your hands. In Jesus’ name.

We are so grateful you shared your heart with us and allowed us to stand alongside you in prayer these past days. Your longing for rest and the refreshing beauty of God’s creation—whether by the sea or in the mountains—has been lifted before our Heavenly Father. We have prayed earnestly that He would open a door for you, providing not only an opportunity to travel but also the peace and renewal your spirit craves.

If God has already answered this prayer in some way—perhaps through an unexpected invitation, a moment of quiet reflection, or even the assurance that He hears you—we would love to hear your praise report! Sharing how He has moved in your life encourages all of us to trust Him more deeply.

If your heart still aches for this rest and the chance to step away, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are here to continue praying with you, believing that God delights in meeting His children’s needs according to His perfect timing and will. May He fill you with His peace as you wait, and may He guide your steps to the place of refreshment He has prepared for you.

We pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
