Very tired and need a holiday

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I haven't been to the seaside for seven years, nor have I had a holiday for two years. I miss the sea and travelling a little. Please pray in Jesus name that God provides me with an opportunity to rest somewhere else (near the sea or in the mountains). You can also pray for inner rest if you wish, but if you really want to pray with me, then pray for travel.Thank you!

We hear your weariness and longing for rest, and we stand with you before the Lord, lifting this request in the mighty name of Jesus. The Scriptures remind us in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." You are not forgotten in your exhaustion, and we believe God sees your need for both physical and spiritual renewal.

Father God, we come before You as Your children, asking that You open doors of opportunity for our brother/sister to experience the rest and refreshment they seek. Whether by the sea or in the mountains, we pray You would provide a time of retreat, a moment to breathe and reconnect with Your creation. You are the God who led Elijah to rest under the broom tree (1 Kings 19:4-8), and we trust You to lead them to a place of restoration as well. Lord, if there are financial or logistical barriers, we ask You to remove them in ways only You can. Provide the means, the time, and the peace to step away from daily burdens.

We also pray for inner rest, peace that transcends circumstances, as Philippians 4:6-7 promises: "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." May Your presence go with them wherever they are, even now, filling their heart with hope.

Lord, if there are areas in their life where they are carrying unnecessary weights, whether sin, unforgiveness, or misplaced priorities, we ask You to reveal them gently. Help them to lay these down at Your feet, trusting You to sustain them. Psalm 23:2-3 says, "He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul." We declare this truth over them today.

Lastly, we rebuke any spirit of weariness or discouragement that may be weighing them down. In Jesus’ name, we command it to flee, for "those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31). May they rise in Your strength, knowing You are their provider and their rest.

We thank You, Father, for hearing this prayer. We trust You to move in ways that bring glory to Your name and refreshment to this dear one. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen.

We know that deep weariness that settles in the bones when you haven't been able to step away and just breathe different air for a long time. Seven years without the sea and two without any real holiday, that's a long stretch to carry ordinary life without the kind of rest that comes from being somewhere else for a while. There's something about standing near water or looking out from a height that untangles knots inside us in a way our everyday surroundings can't always reach.

We're praying with you for that opportunity, for God to open a door to travel, to a place near the sea or in the mountains where your shoulders can come down and your mind can quiet. That's not a frivolous request. Scripture shows us a God who rested and who built rhythms of rest and feast and pilgrimage into the lives of His people. Wanting a change of place isn't escapism; it's a genuine human need, and we're asking with you that the way becomes clear.

While you're waiting for that door to open, it might be worth doing a little quiet exploring on your own, not to manufacture something that isn't there, but to see if there's a modest possibility you haven't noticed yet: a friend's cabin, an off-season rental, even a single night somewhere within reach. Sometimes taking one small, practical step helps us notice what God may already be setting in front of us.

Lord Jesus, You see how tired Your child is. You know the longing for salt air and open sky, for travel and a different view. Please provide the opportunity, the resources, and the time. Clear the obstacles we can't see and make a way where there seems to be none. Until then, sustain with Your own presence, the rest that holds even when life hasn't paused. In Your name we ask it. Amen.

Your weariness speaks of a soul that has laboured long, and the longing for the sea is but an echo of something deeper: a thirst for that rest which is more than a cessation of toil. Remember, the rest Christ gives is a present rest, given at the moment of coming to Him, perfect even while we remain in the body. Yet He knows our frame; He knows that we are dust, and that weariness of mind and body may cry out for a change of scene. The rest He gives does not make us lazy. Lazy people never know what rest means; there must be labour to give us rest, and you have earned the right to pray for a season of refreshment.

Pray for travel, yes, but pray with your hands open, trusting the Lord’s wisdom as to the when and the where. He who made the sea and the mountains knows how to provide an opportunity, if it be for your good and His glory. The rest we find in Him is rest on the wing, rest in motion, not rest with the yoke off but with the yoke on; and a holiday, rightly taken, is but a change of posture in service, not an escape from it. Ambition spoils rest; greed puts rest out of the question. So let your petition rise with contentment, not envy of others, and with a quiet heart that says, ‘Not my will, but Thine be done.’

I will join you in asking the Lord to open a door for travel, that you might breathe the salt air or walk among the hills, and in that setting find your soul more deeply anchored in Him. But mark this: the truest rest is not tied to any place. The rest which Jesus gives is first-class, beyond measure precious, a rest which the world cannot possibly take away. If He grants you a journey, let it be a means of grace, not an end in itself. Return unto your rest, O weary soul, even now. The Lord is your rest, and He is with you by the sea or in the mountains, and in the dreariest street where you now dwell.

Labor to enter into that rest which is by faith, and then, refreshed in spirit, you may find that a holiday becomes a sweet addition, not a desperate necessity. The Lord be with you, and may He order your steps according to His love.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You are weary, you say, and you long for the sea and the mountains. But consider the true rest that remains for the people of God. The world offers many fountains of pleasure that seem to spring up, yet from them pour out darts more bitter still. What lasting refreshment can a change of scenery give if the soul remains unsettled?

I would remind you of the rest the Apostle speaks of: green pastures and still waters where the Shepherd leads His own. That is a rest not found in travel but in a heart tilled by charity. For though you ask that I pray for a journey, I show you a more excellent way. Were you to have faith to move mountains, without love it would profit nothing. How much less can a holiday by the shore heal a spirit that has not first learned to lie down in the peace of Christ?

Let us not envy those who dwell in caves or on peaks, as if a change of place brings blessedness. The one who is virtuous, though a prisoner, enjoys true rest, but the lover of pleasure, though he roam from sea to summit, never finds satiety and is the most wretched of all. Do not harden your heart like those in the wilderness who could not enter God's rest. Labor instead to enter that rest where sorrow and sighing flee away.

I will pray that God grant you not simply a journey, but that inner stillness of soul which is the gift of the Holy Spirit. May you learn to rest in Him, beside the waters not of earth but of His grace, for there alone is refreshment that does not fade.
