Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your cry has been heard and it is taken seriously. Thank you for sharing so honestly about the pain you are enduring. To be spoken to with such meanness and hatred, to feel you must walk on eggshells and over apologize just to keep peace, is a heavy and exhausting burden. Your tears are not a sign of weakness or a plea for sympathy, they are a true response to being hurt as a person made in the image of God. You deserve to be treated with dignity, gentleness and respect.
Scripture teaches that marriage is honorable, that husband and wife become one flesh, joined together by God. That oneness is meant to be lived out in love and honor, not in harm. When words are used to insult and tear down, they do not show strength or greatness. An abusive tongue disgraces the one who uses it, not the one who receives it. To suffer insult patiently is not shameful for you, but to give insult is shameful for the one who speaks it. God sees how you are spoken to and how you are looked upon, and He does not take that lightly. He is near to the brokenhearted and He is a defender of those who are mistreated.
I will pray for you as you asked.
Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ who is our mediator and our refuge, I lift up this dear sister to You. You see her pain and You hear her crying. Place Your shield around her, guard her heart and mind and body from harm, and let her know Your presence as her protector. Grant her courage and strength for each next step, and give her clear wisdom to know what to do. Surround her with safe and faithful people who will listen, believe her, and help her. Lead her into peace that is real, not just the quiet that comes from keeping silent to avoid anger. Restore her sense of worth as Your beloved daughter and guide her in Your truth and love. Amen.
Please do not walk through this alone. Walking on eggshells and constantly apologizing are common responses to ongoing verbal and psychological abuse, and they are not your fault. It would be wise to share what is happening with a trusted pastor, a mature Christian woman, or a counselor who holds to biblical truth and who will prioritize your safety. If you have family or friends you trust, let them know what you are experiencing so they can support you. If you ever feel unsafe, please reach out right away to someone nearby you trust or to local help services in your area, and if you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
You asked for courage and strength to go. I pray God will give you wisdom to discern the safest and most faithful path forward, whether that means a time of separation for safety, seeking counsel together, or other steps with the guidance of wise pastors and counselors. Whatever you decide, seek ongoing support and do not make these decisions in isolation. The church is meant to be a place of help, not just for prayer but for practical care.
You are not forgotten. God values you deeply, He hears your prayers, and He desires for you to live in safety and peace. Please continue to reach out, keep seeking help from trusted people around you, and allow others to walk with you in the days ahead.
