Thank you for sharing so openly about what you have endured. To suffer electric shocks while showering, to carry wounds on your skin and medical documentation of it, to be met not with apology or help but with demands, threats, blocking of communication and attempts to falsify reports, is a heavy and frightening burden. God sees what has happened to you, He knows the truth about the dangerous condition of that apartment, and He hears your cry for justice and for mercy toward those who have harmed you.
Your prayer for softened hearts is right and biblical. Scripture shows a sobering pattern in the story of Pharaoh. Again and again it says Pharaoh hardened his own heart against the Lord. He set his will against what was right, even when the evidence was before him. Only after he had repeatedly hardened his own heart does Scripture use a different word and say that the Lord made his heart firm, or stiffened it, confirming him in the position he had already chosen. It was not that God forced an innocent man to become hard. The man chose hardness, and God strengthened him in that choice.
That is why hardening the heart is so dangerous. When a person keeps resisting the voice of conscience and the prompting of the Holy Spirit, the heart can become so set that repentance no longer seems possible, and faith itself becomes out of reach. There is a warning that to keep despising the Spirit of grace is to move beyond the place where change can happen. True repentance is not just words of regret, it is a real change of heart and direction, a godly sorrow that leads to turning around. For that reason we will pray with urgency that those who have shown no remorse, who have equated a life threatening hazard with mere comfort and who have answered your suffering with threats, will not continue to harden themselves. We pray that God would break up that hardness and give a heart of flesh in place of a heart of stone, that the fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom would come upon them, and that He would work in them both to will and to do what is right, because only He can plant a new desire within a person.
God is the one who searches hearts. The heart is deceitful and none of us fully knows our own motives, but the Lord knows. He looks not at outward words but at what is within, and out of the heart are the issues of life. What is hidden will be brought to light. You quoted the promise that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all, He keeps him, and that affliction will slay the wicked while those who hate the righteous will be condemned. We cling to that with you. God is your protector. He has kept you through physical danger, through false accusation when you were blamed for something you did not do, and through the distress of being confronted and even reported to authorities while you were walking peacefully. He can continue to keep you, to vindicate the truth, and to bring to exposure anything that was done in secret, whether it was negligence, deceit in reports, or any intentional harm. Only He knows the full intent of every heart, and we can trust His just judgment.
In this long strain, guard your own heart as well. Scripture says to keep your heart with all diligence, for from it flows your life. It is understandable to feel anger, exhaustion and deep hurt after months without apology or compensation. Ask God as David did, search me, O God, and know my heart, so that bitterness and hatred do not take root in you. Let Him keep your heart tender toward Him, even as you seek what is just and right.
We join you in prayer now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ who alone is our salvation, we bring this wounded and weary one before You. You have seen the shocks, the wounds, the need to find safe water elsewhere, the threats and the false reports. Bring healing to body and mind, provide a safe dwelling and for every practical need, and surround this person with protection. Lord, have mercy on the landlord, the representatives and all who have acted without compassion. Do not let them remain in hardness. Grant them a fear of You, a true sight of what they have done, and a repentance that leads to change, to honest confession, to taking responsibility and to making restitution with respect. Where there has been lying, bring truth to light. Where there has been arrogance and abuse, break it with Your grace. And if there are hearts that will not turn, we leave judgment to You and ask that You would restrain further harm. Keep this dear one in Your peace, establish justice in Your way and time, and let Your will be done. Amen.
