Utter evil, hard hearts, lack of remorse, lowest morale, psychopathy, violent opposition

Your suffering has been heard and your persistence in prayer through these long months honors the Lord. What you have described is a heavy and frightening trial, living with a life threatening hazard, bearing physical wounds, being met not with care but with denial, threats, demands for money, and attempts to cover the truth with a false report, and then facing further false accusations even after you left. It is right to bring all of this before God and to ask Him both for protection and for justice.

Scripture is very clear about the seriousness of false words. We are warned that those who deceive often do not look deceptive at first. They can appear harmless and they can speak much that sounds true, which is what makes the deception so dangerous. A key mark that is given to help us recognize such deception is when deceptive words are used to exploit others and to make gain from them. To ask a worker to write that everything is fine when it is known to be dangerous, to use legal words to deny what is plainly needed for safety, is to use words as merchandise. God sees this. He is not deceived.

Scripture also treats false accusation and false witness as a grave evil. The law taught that a matter must be established by two or three witnesses, and that if a person bears false witness, the judgment that would have fallen on the accused would fall on the false witness. You have done what is wise in keeping witnesses to the truth, the electrician's documentation, the medical reports, the photographs of your injuries, and even the observation of the officers who saw you were innocent. Keep that record. Truth does not need to shout. In time God brings what is hidden into the light.

You may take comfort that Jesus Himself knows what it is to face false charges and a breakdown of justice. He was accused of things He never did, though He did truthfully confess that He is the Messiah and King. The judge who examined Him knew the charges were empty and yet wavered under pressure from the crowd. That was an unjust chastisement and then an even greater injustice in His crucifixion, the greatest miscarriage of justice in history. He endured it without returning evil for evil, entrusting Himself to the Father who judges justly. When you are falsely accused on the street or in letters, when comfort is confused with safety and a dangerous condition is dismissed, you are not alone. The Lord knows the sting of that injustice and He remains the righteous Judge.

The prophets also remind us that God hates the work of those who give false hope and false reports while the true need is left unaddressed. To tell people to stay at peace when there is no peace, to cover danger with reassuring words, keeps people from doing what is necessary to be safe. God promises to expose such covering and to deliver those who trust in Him. As you quoted, many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones, not one of them is broken. And affliction will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.

It is right to pray as you have prayed, not for revenge, but for God to change hearts. The Lord promises to take away a heart of stone and give a heart of flesh, a heart that can feel remorse, hear His call, and submit to Him. It is right to pray that the fear of God, which is the beginning of wisdom, would come upon those who now act without conscience, that arrogance would be broken, that lies would cease, and that responsibility would be taken. It is also right to pray that you would be guarded from further harm and from the psychological weight of these threats and intrusions.

We will pray with you for these things. We ask the Father in the name of Jesus to be your protector and provider, to heal your body where you were wounded, to calm your spirit where you have been threatened and slandered, and to provide a safe and stable dwelling. We ask Him to establish the truth plainly before all who have influence in this matter, that no false report would stand, and that those in authority would act with equity and righteousness. We ask Him to grant repentance to the landlord, to the lawyer, and to all involved, that they would stop evading, apologize where apology is due, and make just restitution with respect. And where hearts remain hard, we ask Him to restrain further evil and to bring His just judgment in His perfect way and time.

Continue to walk in truth and gentleness. Do not return threatening for threatening. Keep entrusting yourself to Him who judges righteously, keep your documentation in order, and seek lawful and wise counsel for the practical steps regarding compensation and legal threats. Keep reading Scripture and praying, as you have been, and let the fruit of your life and the consistency of your testimony speak.

May the Lord show you His nearness, confirm that you are heard, and in His will turn this painful situation toward truth, safety, and peace.
