Your pain and the long ordeal you have described have been heard, and the seriousness of what you endured is not minimized. To receive electric shocks while showering, to carry wounds on your skin and medical reports confirming it, to be told that a report should be falsified to say all is well, and then to face blocked communication, threats, demands for fees and talk of forced eviction instead of apology or help, is a heavy burden. It is understandable that you feel shaken, that your morale has been low, and that you have also felt fear when you noticed signs of entry into your home and when you were falsely accused by someone you had never met.
What you are describing is the very breakdown of justice and truth that Scripture speaks about. There are times when no one calls for justice and no one pleads for truth, when people trust in empty words and speak lies, when fairness cannot enter and justice stands far off because truth has fallen in the street. Where judgment and justice should prevail, especially in dealings between those with power and those under their care, that justice can become perverted. When that happens the whole order of life is shaken. God is a God of righteousness and justice, and He wants justice to prevail. He is not indifferent when the poor and the vulnerable are oppressed. He hears the cry of those who have no advocate and He takes up their cause.
Scripture also speaks plainly about hard hearts. There were people who would not listen to the prophets even when warned, and even in captivity they remained hard and refused to hear. God described them as impudent and hard hearted. That hardness is not beyond His reach. He is the One who can take away a heart of stone and give a heart of flesh, a heart that can feel remorse, hear His voice, and submit to Him. It is right to pray as you have prayed, that the fear of God would come upon those who have acted without conscience, that the Holy Spirit would touch them, that hardness would be broken, that lies would be exposed and truth would be made plain, whether concerning falsified reports, disconnected safety devices, or any other hidden act. Only God knows fully what was intended in every detail, but nothing is hidden from Him, and He will bring what is true into the light.
When the direction of the world around you is going downward, to go upward takes great strength and courage. At times the wisest and bravest thing to do is to flee from danger, as Paul urged Timothy to flee what would destroy him. Your decision to leave a life threatening dwelling, to seek showers elsewhere and then to move out and leave the place clean and ready for the keys to be returned, was a right step to protect your life. God knows the hard places you have walked through. Many who have walked with Him have known that He is near in the hard places when they cannot get through without Him, and He remains near in the days that follow. One day we will be able to look back and see how He has carried us through trials we did not understand at the time.
Jesus Himself knows what it is to suffer injustice. His trial and crucifixion was the greatest miscarriage of justice in history, when an innocent man bore the full weight of condemnation. Because He suffered unjustly, He understands your wound, and through His death He satisfied the righteous demands of God's justice so that sinners can be forgiven and can know the hope of spending eternity with Him. Even when human courts and systems fail to give justice, and even when attorneys will say that justice in court is uncertain, God's justice does not fail. He has promised that He will one day establish His kingdom with judgment and with justice forever, and the zeal of the Lord will perform it.
We join you in prayer in the mighty name of Jesus.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ who alone is our salvation, we bring this situation before You. You see the shocks, the wounds, the medical treatment, the fear in the shower, the need for urgent repairs, and the documents that confirm the danger. You see the refusal to show remorse, the threats, the blocking of communication, the demands for payment, and the words that called a life threatening need mere comfort. You see the legal threats after the apartment was left uninhabitable and clean, the months without apology or compensation, the signs of entry and the false accusations. Lord, You know the hearts and intentions of all involved.
We ask that You would protect and heal. Touch the body that has been hurt and the mind that has been distressed by dangerous words and attitudes. Give peace, restore morale, and provide for every practical need, for housing, for finances, and for wise counsel. Guard from any further harm or intimidation and let truth be clearly established and documented.
We ask that You would work in the hearts of the landlord, the contact person, the owner, the team, the lawyer, and the residents of that house. Give them a heart of flesh in place of hardness. Bring the fear of the Lord upon them, bring conviction of sin, and lead them to remorse, to speak truth, to apologize where wrong has been done, and to take responsibility with fairness and respect, including just compensation where it is due. Where reports have been falsified or safety devices tampered with, expose what has been hidden so that no one else is endangered.
We pray that justice would not remain far off. Where human judgment is turned backward and equity cannot enter, we ask You to intervene. Defend the afflicted and needy, and let righteousness prevail. Give wisdom to all who must address these matters, and as Paul appealed when justice was denied, grant guidance in every lawful step that seeks protection and fairness.
We thank You for Your promise that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but You deliver him out of them all, You keep him, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. Keep this one in Your hand, let Your Holy Spirit lead and comfort, and let Your will be done. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
