Use Wisdom

Sometimes I feel Christians trend towards certain verses, but overlook others. And that different circumstances favor different approachs.Like, some Christians are so afraid of looking "judgemental" and "unforgiving" that they may overlook other verses.Like, lets say there's a Christian judge ,and someone brings a murderer, drug dealer, rapist etc. before him.Now the Christian judge might feel that he'll be "judgemental" and "unforgiving" by sentencing this guy, so he lets him go free. But the Bible says love your neighbor,so if he lets him go , and he rapes women, murders more people, etc.by the judge allowing it by letting him go, how is that loving your neighbor?{the others}.Also, it's in the Bible to "follow the law of the land"and by the judge letting criminals "get away with it", is skirting the law.Like, if a Christian sees someone raping his wife,he can be "nonjudgemental" and "forgiving" and stand there and let the rapist do his thing, then tell him,"that's fine .you're forgiven'.But it's also in the Bible to "love our wives as ourselves", so if the rapist sees the guy as a sap, and keeps coming back to rape her, how is that loving your wife?In other words, when there are 2 verses with different messages in the Bible, I think we have to use wisdom to decide which applies, not overuse one at the expense of the other.Yes, we're supposed to forgive and not judge. But I think in cases like I mentioned, we should also use judgement.Weigh them against the other verses, and see which best applies in a specific case.

Wisdom...Pray for Wisdom. And with all your getting, get understanding.

Forgiveness does not mean Relationship. If God's people would just read, study, and meditate on the book of Proverbs a lot of things that is happening in their lives would not be happening.

I guarantee you your life will change and you will be blessed beyond even your comprehension if you apply Proverbs to your life. Wisdom will seek you out and call your name. You will find Proverbs/Wisdom speaking to your heart, mind, and emotions. And the trouble, foolishness, drama, and evil that use to seek you out will lose your address and phone number.

Let’s Pray: God You said in the book of Proverbs that if I find Wisdom I will find life and I shall obtain favor of the Lord. God I ask You in Jesus’ name that You will bless me to find Wisdom. God bless me with the wisdom that I stand in need of as I read, listen to, and meditate upon the book of Proverbs. Let Your wisdom and understanding rise up and flow as a river of living water within me. Let me listen to and obey Wisdom. Let wisdom seek me out, cry out to me, and call my name. Let me find Wisdom speaking to my heart, mind, and emotions. Let me find wisdom leading, guiding, and directing my footsteps, actions, and the words that I speak. God all that I have asked of You in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those I love, and care about. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

"Then He opened their minds that they might understand the Scriptures" (Luke 24:45).

That word understand means "put together individual pieces in view of the whole picture as one would a puzzle" in Greek. Bob, you need to ask God to show you the principle points in scripture and see where to place the more minor points underneath. Like "oh, this is part of the fence," and, "oh, this is part of the barn, and this is part of the grassy pasture, and this is the blue sky, and that's a part of the farm house, and that's obviously a part of the horse" and in that way you will be able to see "the whole picture or completed puzzle" in other words, how the Bible fits together.

Do you have a systematic plan to read through the Old and New Testaments? Do you have a home church and pastor? I think you would benefit greatly from a weekly Bible Study. Your questions would help a lot of people since there is "wisdom in a multitude of counselors"(Prov 11:14; Prov 15:22). I encourage you to seek out a church and a Bible Study. They are the foundational places to start and a great place to get answers to many of your Biblical questions.

"The heart of the righteous studies how to answer" (Prov 15:28).
