Father, we look to You and Your Word, Isaiah 8:20, rather than the noise and pollution of the world, 1 Jn 2:15-16. Thank You for working in my wife, my life, and for all that need Your guidance, "You are able to save forever those who come to God through Jesus, because He lives to make intercession for us," Heb 7:25, c.f. Rom 8:34. We agree with this husband, for his wife, children, family, friends, prayer and minister partners and and himself -- speak to us by any and every ordinary and extraordinary means: Father, with humble confidence, give her, them, us dreams and visions underlining your will for us in Christ Jesus, as You have done from ancient times: Joseph, Matt 1:20, Magi, Matt 2:12, Abimelech, Gen 20:3, Laban to remain neutral regarding Jacob, Gen 31:24, Nebuchadnezzar, Dan 2:1, Dan 4:5, Paul, Acts 19:6, and You will continue to though the future, Heb 13:8. Your arm is not too short, Num 11:23, especially to save, Isa 50:2, Isa 59:1. As little children, "we know You can do all things and no purpose of GOD can be thwarted,"Job 42:2. We agree with John, that light is stronger than darkness and not able to overcome it, John 1:5. We agree that "nothing shall be impossible with God," Luke 1:27, "The things impossible with man are possible with God," Mark 10:27.

We join with you in this earnest desire to hear the voice of our Shepherd and to be led by Him in every area of life for you, your wife, your children, your spouses, your families, your friends, your churches, your pastors, your leaders, your prayer and financial partners and their families, and all your loved ones.

We agree that our first and final authority must be the Word of God, for to the law and to the testimony, if they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them Isaiah 8:20. We love that you have set your heart not to love the world or the things that are in the world 1 John 2:15, but to look to the Father and to His Word. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Your word is a lamp to our feet, and a light for our path Psalm 119:105. While we rejoice that God in His sovereignty can and does speak through many means, we must always test what we hear, for we are told to test the spirits, whether they are of God 1 John 4:1, and to hold fast to what is good and to what aligns with Scripture 1 Thessalonians 5:21.

We thank God that you desire His guidance through the preaching of the Word, through divine appointments, through godly counsel, for where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory Proverbs 11:14, through the leading of the Holy Spirit, for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God Romans 8:14, and through the Shepherd's voice, for His sheep hear His voice and He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out and they follow Him John 10:27, John 10:3-4. We also acknowledge that God has spoken in dreams and visions in the past, as with Joseph Matthew 1:20, the Magi being warned in a dream Matthew 2:12, Abimelech Genesis 20:3, Laban Genesis 31:24, Nebuchadnezzar Daniel 2:1, Daniel 4:5, and Paul's vision of the man from Macedonia Acts 16:9, and that He has promised in the last days I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions Joel 2:28, Acts 2:17-18. God does speak in one way, yes, in two, though man does not perceive it, in a dream, in a vision of the night Job 33:14-15. He also sets signs in the heavens to mark seasons and days and years Genesis 1:14, as seen in the star that led the wise men Matthew 2:2 and the prophecy of a star out of Jacob Numbers 24:17, and He gives understanding of the times to those like the sons of Issachar who understood the times, to know what Israel ought to do 1 Chronicles 12:32.

Yet we gently encourage you to keep the written Word as the plumb line for all these things, for even if we seek signs of the times Matthew 16:3, we remember that an evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign Matthew 16:4, and God desires that we walk by faith, not by sight 2 Corinthians 5:7. Visions, dreams, prophecy Numbers 12:6, and impressions must never contradict or add to Scripture, but must be weighed carefully, for prophecy is to be tested and the spirits judged 1 Corinthians 14:29. The Holy Spirit will never lead contrary to the Word He inspired.

We rejoice with you in the confidence you expressed, that our Lord Jesus lives to make intercession for us Hebrews 7:25, Romans 8:34, that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever Hebrews 13:8, that His arm is not shortened that it cannot save Isaiah 59:1, Isaiah 50:2, that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think Ephesians 3:20, that with God all things are possible Mark 10:27, Luke 1:37, that no purpose of God can be thwarted Job 42:2, and that the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it John 1:5. We cling with you to the promise that when we seek Him with humble confidence, He will give wisdom liberally James 1:5.

So we pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace through the name of Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and no one comes to the Father except through Him John 14:6. We thank You for this husband who intercedes for his wife, his children, his family, his friends, his pastors, his church, his leaders, and his prayer and financial partners and their families. We ask that You speak clearly to each one by Your Word first and foremost, and then by every ordinary and extraordinary means that is according to Your perfect will. Open their ears to hear Your voice, open their eyes to see Your way, and give them hearts to obey quickly.

Grant them dreams and visions only as You will, and give them discernment to understand what is from You and what is not, keeping them anchored in Scripture. Surround them with godly counsel and divine appointments that confirm Your direction. Lead them by Your Holy Spirit in all decisions for marriage, family, ministry, finances, and calling. We ask that You keep them all from temptation, from sin, from evil, from wrongdoing, from lies, from fear, from evil people, from deception, and deliver them from the evil one Matthew 6:13, John 17:15, 2 Thessalonians 3:3. Guard their minds and hearts with Your peace which surpasses all understanding as they make their requests known to You with thanksgiving Philippians 4:6-7.

We thank You in advance, believing that whatever we ask in prayer, believing, we will receive Mark 11:24, for without faith it is impossible to please You, and You reward those who diligently seek You Hebrews 11:6. Let Your will be done in each life, in each marriage, in each church, and in this nation, for Your glory. We affirm that in Jesus all Your promises are Yes and Amen 2 Corinthians 1:20, and He is the Amen, the faithful and true witness Revelation 3:14. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Thank you for sharing this prayer so openly. We can hear how deeply you want you and your wife, your children, your churches and partners to stay close to God and know His direction, and how much you want to be kept from confusion and harm.

That desire to listen is a good place to be. We have found that God most often makes His will clear as we stay steady in His Word and in prayer, and as we invite a few wise, trusted believers to weigh what we think we are hearing. Impressions, dreams and strong feelings can feel very real, but they are safest when held lightly and tested together with Scripture and with counsel from people who know you and love Jesus.

One simple step that helps many couples is to set aside a short, regular time to pray together out loud, share what each of you senses God is saying, write it down simply, and then bring it to a pastor or mature friend for perspective before making big decisions. It keeps you united and keeps you from carrying the burden alone.

Father, we bring this husband and his wife, their family, friends and all their partners before You. Give them a quiet confidence that You are near and guiding them, keep them from deception and fear, and fill their home with Your peace as they seek You together. Lead them step by step in the way You want them to go. In Jesus' name, amen.

Father You see, Gen 16:13. You SEE that we ask and AGREE You speak to Her, Us, Our Children, Our Families, Praying Friends (And Their Loved Ones, Pastors, Leaders) according to Jesus' Word in Matthew 18:19, where if two AGREE it's settled, and wherever two or three are gathered, JESUS is our midst, Matt 18:20... JESUS, YOU ARE IN THE MIDST (בְּקִרְבֵּ֖ךְ bə·qir·bêḵ -- middle, center) OF THIS PRAYER -- The LORD our GOD IS IN OUR MIDST, MIGHTY TO SAVE, rejoicing over us with joy-filled song which quiets us in Your Love, Zeph 3:17.

With thanksgiving we thank You in advance, Mark 11:24, Hebrews 11:6, for speaking clearly to all for whom we've prayed, 1 Tim 2:1-4, Eph 6:18-19, now we ask You would speak in whatsoever ways You please, Hebrews 1:1-3; and may it lead to the salvation and repentance You desire, 2 Peter 3:9, and thank You for instrumenting it together with The Son by The Holy Spirit and for the peace You promise that shall guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus' Name, Phil 4:6-7, John 14:13-14, and through Jesus, our head, our lips say the Amen, 2 Corinthians 1:20.

Your longing to hear the voice of the Shepherd and to be kept from evil is itself a token that the Holy Spirit is at work in you, for apart from His gracious operation the heart rises no higher than its own depraved nature and remains unblessed. It is a tender and touching thing that the Holy Spirit should condescend to make the heart of His people His continual abode, though it be but a cottage, and to direct His servant Paul to say to us, Grieve not the Holy Spirit. I rejoice with you in the truth you have well quoted, that He is able to save forever those who come to God through Jesus, because He lives to make intercession for us, and that in Jesus all the promises of God are Yes and Amen.

You ask that the Lord would speak to you and to your wife, your children, your families, your churches, your pastors and leaders, by every ordinary and extraordinary means, by dreams and visions and signs in the heavens. Hear then what the Spirit Himself teaches. The Holy Spirit glorifies Christ. That teaching is not of the Holy Spirit which does not glorify the Lord Jesus, and that work is not of the Spirit which magnifies outward rites or novel wonders above the person and finished work of the Saviour. Our sin puts a veil between us and Christ, and the Holy Spirit comes and takes the veil away from our heart and then we see Christ in the Word. It is by the Gospel of Jesus Christ that the Spirit works in the hearts of men, for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. The Spirit uses the hearing of the Word for conviction, conversion, consolation and sanctification.

This is your surest guide, as you have rightly said, to the law and to the testimony, Isaiah 8:20. If we live in the Spirit we shall walk by the simple rule of God's Book and by the light of God's Spirit. God did in ancient times speak to Joseph and to the Magi in dreams, to Abimelech and to Laban, to Nebuchadnezzar and to Paul, and His arm is not shortened that it cannot save. Yet we are not to seek after signs and visions as our rule, lest we grieve the Spirit who has given us the sure Word. Rather we are to pray in the Holy Spirit, which is to pray in His power and by His help, through faith which He authors and nurtures. The carnal mind knows nothing of this, but the spiritual man cries mightily unto God in entire dependence upon the Holy Spirit, and the effectual fervent prayer of such a man prevails.

Therefore I would exhort you to give yourselves up fully to His divine anointing and bedewing. Live in the Holy Spirit. Do not excite His loving anger, do not vex Him, do not cause Him to mourn. The Spirit is grieved by any approach to bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil speaking and malice, and where He is grieved He bears with us long, but if we persist He suspends His comforting operations and we lose Christian joy and the light becomes darkness. Let us purge our churches and our homes of everything that is contrary to His Word and to sound doctrine, and then the Spirit will return and His power shall be manifest. Remember that God's Holy Spirit and man's sin cannot reign together peaceably, for the Spirit lusts against the flesh and the flesh against the Spirit, and there will be a perpetual conflict until sin is subdued.

Seek then godly counsel, for in multitude of counselors there is safety, but let that counsel be tried by Scripture. Seek divine appointments and the leading of the Spirit, for as many as are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God, yet know that the Shepherd's voice, John 10:27, is never heard contradicting His own Word. He will lead you into all truth by opening your reason, setting it in the right track, and quickening you to move according to the holy will and law of God. And as you seek to be kept from temptation, from lies and fear and deception and from the evil one, know that through faith you are sanctified by the operation of the Holy Spirit so that you are delivered from the dominion of sin and set free to follow after that which is good and pure and right in the sight of God.

I will pray with you as you have asked. May the Lord keep you and your wife and your children, and all your household, walking in holiness, and may He keep your marriages according to His own institution, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, wherein alone by His design the union of husband and wife is to be enjoyed. May He keep your churches, your pastors, your leaders and your partners and their families from all evil, and grant to you all with thanksgiving that incomprehensible peace which guards heart and mind through Christ Jesus, as you make your requests known unto God. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you, that you may not hardly know whether there be any Holy Spirit, but may know assuredly that He dwells with you and shall be in you, till at the last Jesus shall receive you into His glory.
