Yes, I pray, Lord, that the people will elect a righteous leader and that this community would be richly blessed because of it. I agree with Naps for this request to be fulfilled for we truly and desperately need righteous leadership in the world today to restore nations and restict evil, in Jesus name, amen.

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men: For Kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quit and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." 1 Tim. 2:2

Father please bless our nation today with good and wise leaders who will follow you in all things. I pray that they will uphold the biblical values of compassion, justice and wisdom and that you will help them make difficult decisions. I pray that you'll give us the strength to honour them, be in submission to them and not slander them even when we do not agree with them. Help those who will lose their jobs today as the party they work for is voted out. Provide for them and help them to keep everything in perspective. We pray that the new leaders will protect the rights of the unborn, will make loving and wise decisions about asylum seekers, that they will have the right priorties when it comes to helping the poor both here and overseas, that they will have wisdom regarding complex issues such as how to help remote indigenous communities, and that they will not bring in ethics classes to our schools. Give them wisdom in dealing with climate change and balancing the needs of the present and the future. I pray that Christian politicians will not compromise what they believe, and that they will not tie their political beliefs to the gospel. Let the media be a little more gracious in their dealings with politicians. Thankyou for our wonderful free country. Please keep it that way for our children and our children's children.
