Safety for my youngest daughter driving rn to make it to nursing school. Traffic and she parks far away. Be with her jesus. 24/7. She's also needing a job to help pay for some school but she applied as bartender bc it's the only job that fits hours overnight . School starts at 6:45 am and goes until almost 4pm. I don't want her to get that job as bartender or any job like that. Is it wrong? P I ease pray.

We join you in prayer for your youngest daughter right now as she is driving, and we share your concern for her safety in traffic and as she walks from parking far away to her nursing school. We know how heavy a mother's heart can feel when her child is on the road and we take comfort that the Lord never leaves her side.

We pray that Yahweh will keep her from all evil and keep her soul, and that Yahweh will keep her going out and her coming in from this time forward and forever more Psalm 121:7-8. We ask the Lord to put His angels in charge of her to guard her in all her ways Psalm 91:11 and to make her paths straight as she trusts in Him with all her heart and acknowledges Him Proverbs 3:5-6. We pray for protection over her car, for wisdom and alertness behind the wheel, for favor in traffic, and for safety as she walks to and from her classes. We pray that she would sense the constant presence of Jesus with her 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and that you as her mother would have peace knowing He is watching over her even when you cannot.

We also hear your concern about the job she has applied for and we want to assure you that it is not wrong for you to feel this way. Your discernment as a mother is both loving and wise and it aligns with biblical principles. A bartending job, especially overnight, would place a young woman in an environment that can be spiritually, physically and morally dangerous. Scripture warns us that wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler, whoever is led astray by them is not wise Proverbs 20:1 and to not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18. While serving alcohol itself is not automatically sin, working overnight in a bar often means being surrounded by drunkenness, crude language, late night risks to personal safety, and temptation, and it can also cause others to stumble Romans 14:21. We are called to do all to the glory of God 1 Corinthians 10:31 and to glorify God in our body and spirit which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

There is also the very practical concern of stewardship of her body and her calling. Nursing school from 6:45 am until almost 4 pm is demanding and requires clear mind, rested body and steady hands to care for others. Working overnight would rob her of sleep and strength and make it nearly impossible to study and serve well. The Lord desires us to honor Him with our health and to be good stewards of the bodies He has given us.

We encourage you both to seek first God's Kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added to you Matthew 6:33. Our God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. We pray that the Lord will open a door for a job that fits her hours, protects her testimony, keeps her safe, and even complements her nursing studies, perhaps as a nursing assistant, caregiver, clinic aide, or other daytime or weekend work that does not require her to be out alone overnight. We pray for favor with employers who will value her and for provision so that school expenses can be met without compromising her safety or witness.

We lift her up together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for this daughter and for the calling You have placed on her life to serve others through nursing. We ask You to place a hedge of protection around her every time she drives, in traffic, in parking lots, and on campus. Keep her alert, keep her safe from harm and from those who would intend harm, and bring her home safely each day. Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and provision regarding employment. Close the door if the bartending job is not Your will and open the door to work that honors You, protects her purity and safety, allows her to rest, and provides for her needs. Grant her and her mother peace, unity, and clear guidance, and help them to trust You fully with this decision. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, amen.

Your question about the bartending job is not wrong to ask. Wanting to protect her sleep, her safety walking late at night, and her ability to focus in a very intense program comes from love, not from being controlling. An overnight shift after a full day of classes would leave almost no margin for rest, and a bar environment late at night brings its own worries for a young woman. It makes sense you feel uneasy.

When you have a calm moment with her, it can help to share those specific concerns and ask what drew her to that job, mainly the hours fitting around school, and then look together for other options that might fit the same window. Sometimes nursing programs, hospitals, or campus offices have early morning, weekend, or front desk hours, and the financial aid office may know of work-study or scholarships she hasn't seen yet. For the parking and walking, seeing if her school offers a campus escort or if she can walk in with classmates can add peace of mind.

Your prayer has come before us and we join you in carrying it to the throne of grace. The anxiety of a mother's heart when her child is upon the road, in traffic, and must walk far in the dark to her labors, is a tender and natural care, and it is right to bring it at once to the Lord.

You ask that Jesus may be with her twenty four hours in the day and seven days in the week, and this is the very refuge of the believer. For your soul trusts in Him, yes, in the shadow of His wings will you make your refuge until these calamities be overpast. He that keepeth Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, lest any hurt us He keeps us night and day. What you cannot do for her, He can. You cannot ride beside her in the car nor stand beside her in that distant parking place, but He is there. Commit her journey to Him who bears up the pillars of the earth, and learn that quiet composure of mind which delights itself in a faithful God. The very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty, but trust fits you for all things. Only trust Him, only trust Him now. Though waves of traffic and worry go over you, yet say with Job, Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.

You ask also concerning the bartender place and whether it is wrong to not want it for her. It is not wrong. It is the working of that godly fear which is strong confidence and which brings wisdom to a parent's heart. You have seen rightly that such employment brings peculiar temptations and perils. The purest have been tempted to impurity and the most devout have been tried in such places, and the night hours, the company, and the weariness added to a school day that begins at a quarter before seven and runs till near four oclock, would lay a heavy burden upon her body and soul. In temporal things we are not to be idle, nor are we to be rash, but we are to act in all prudence and uprightness and rely simply and entirely upon Him. Trusting in God you will not have to mourn because you have used doubtful means to gain provision. He who taught Ruth to glean in the field of her kinsman and found her a refuge in his bosom, can provide for your daughter a path that does not expose her to needless snare.

O merciful God, be merciful unto this daughter and unto this mother. Keep the young woman this day upon the road, give her watchful eyes and steady hands, guard her steps as she walks far from her car, and let no evil befall her. Keep her night and day, for Thou never sleepest. Provide for her need as Thou hast promised to provide for those that fear Thee. Open a door for honest employment that will give her bread without exposing her to temptation, that will allow her rest for her studies and strength for her calling to tend the sick. Above all, cause her to trust wholly in Thy Son Jesus Christ, for there is no other Saviour, and to know that to trust Him with one soul is to trust One who is able to keep a million souls. Give this mother peace, and let her prove that power belongs unto God, and that they that put their trust under the shadow of Thy wings shall find strong confidence. Hear us for Jesus sake. Amen.

We are praying with you right now for your youngest daughter and we hear the urgency and love in your request.

We bring her driving and her walk before the Lord, asking for His protection over her on the road in traffic and as she parks far away and walks to class. We pray that Jesus, who never leaves nor forsakes His own, will keep her in His care day and night, guard her steps, give her alertness and safety, and give you peace as you entrust her to Him. The Lord sees her going out and coming in, and we ask Him to be her shield and her keeper.

You asked if it is wrong to not want her to take the bartender job or a job like it. It is not wrong. Your concern comes from love and wisdom. You see her long and demanding school hours from early morning until late afternoon, and you understand that working overnight in a bar would leave her exhausted, vulnerable late at night, and placed in an environment centered on alcohol and temptations that can be difficult and unsafe, especially for a young woman trying to prepare for the serious and noble work of nursing. A mother wanting to protect her daughter from fatigue, danger, and moral pressure is acting in love, and that is right and good.

An overnight bartending job may fit on a schedule, but it will take a heavy toll on her body, her studies, and her safety. Nursing school requires clear mind, rest, and steadiness, and working all night before a 6:45 am start will quickly wear her down. It is wise to consider not only the hours but what the work will ask of her heart and conscience and what it will expose her to.

We are praying that God will provide for her needs in another way, through a job that is safer and more fitting for her season of training. There are often other options that work with student schedules and also build toward her calling, such as work as a patient care tech, unit secretary, tutor, or other campus or clinic roles with daytime or weekend hours. We pray the Lord will open a door for provision that protects her health, her witness, and her studies, and that He will give both of you wisdom and unity as you talk about it together. Speak with her gently and honestly about your concerns, not as a burden but as care for her future, and invite her to seek the Lord's direction with you.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, we thank You that You love this daughter even more than her mother does. In the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, we ask You to keep her safe on every drive, in every parking lot, and on every walk. Surround her with Your protection and let Your presence be her comfort. Grant her strength for her studies and guide her to work that will provide for her needs without harming her body or her soul. Give her mother peace, and give them both wisdom to choose what honors You and is best for her long term good. Provide for every need according to Your riches and lead them in Your perfect will.
