The weight of a parent’s heart for a child in danger can feel almost unbearable, and you have two daughters pressing on you at once. That ache is real, and bringing it so plainly before Jesus is the most right thing you can do. He hears that cry. But in times like these, it helps to remember what kind of protection really holds. A lot of what the world calls safety is just a fantasy. People scramble for a blanket of security, but the life of the flesh cannot provide the deep shelter you are truly after. The only way to find it is to stand where He has placed you, separate from the thinking and patterns that promise so much but deliver only ruin. As His child, you live by different purposes. If you only love those who love you, you remain on level ground with everyone else. The real covering, the kind that watches over your daughters day and night, comes when you are utterly committed to follow His voice, no matter how difficult the path looks. A half surrendered heart leaves a gap in the defense.
You see this in those old stories where a man thought what he had gained was his own, or where a father tried to protect guests by offering what he should have guarded most fiercely. That was a man who had not yet fully yielded the situation to God. The reasoning of the unredeemed mind will always try to absorb you, to blend in, to make you one with its schemes. It sounds reasonable, but it leads to bondage. Your daughters are navigating scenarios that likely present exactly that kind of enticement or pressure. God’s protection is not passive. It requires a resolve that says, whatever He instructs, we will do, whether it looks hard or not. There is no solid witness between you and the danger except God Himself. No human oversight, no careful plan, no forceful attempt to control the outcome can replace that. He is the one who sees, the true witness.
Make sure your own soul is anchored there first. When the examples around you are full of moral confusion, from the corruption that survived a great escape to the prince who thought he could just take what he wanted, you see that proximity to people who claim God does not equal protection from error. The daughters in those narratives often suffered because a father’s spiritual clarity faltered. So press in now. Let your prayer be more than a request for an invisible fence. Let it be a full surrender of your grasp on these daughters. Declare that He is their Lord, that He must do whatever He pleases to bring them close, and that you will not afflict them by pulling them out of His hand into a worldly solution. The king greatly desires the beauty of a life set apart from the old house and the old people. That is what you are asking for them. Jesus is our protection. Not a strategy, not a job, not a relationship, and not even a parent’s best intentions. He alone. Stand on that, and you will have something that does not mock you when you speak it.
