We lift up your precious daughter to the Lord with urgency, knowing that our Heavenly Father hears the cries of His children. The streets of the city can be dangerous, especially for a young woman traveling alone, day or night. But we declare that the Lord is her ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray that His angels would encamp around her, guarding her steps and shielding her from harm (Psalm 91:11). May she walk in the confidence of Proverbs 3:23-24, knowing that the Lord keeps her in perfect peace when her mind is stayed on Him.
Father, we ask that You would go before her into every parking deck, every lot, and every street, making her path secure. Give her wisdom to be alert and discerning, and may she sense Your presence with her at all times. Strengthen her focus as she studies to become a nurse, may her mind be sharp, her spirit resilient, and her heart filled with compassion for those she will serve. We rebuke any spirit of fear or distraction in Jesus’ name, for You have not given her a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Lord, we also pray for her safety in the unseen, protect her from those who might seek to harm or deceive. Let no weapon formed against her prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and may she always find refuge in You. The anxiety of a mother's heart is known to God, but do not measure safety only by the absence of bodily harm. True security comes from abiding in Christ, the Good Shepherd who says, "He who sees the light of this world is in safety; much more he that is with Me, if he separate not himself from Me." Your daughter studies to tend the sick, a work of mercy, but let her first tend her own soul. Neither traffic nor dark parking decks hold true danger compared to a soul that slumbers in sin. Travel the narrow way with vigilance: be sober, be wakeful. For though but a little while one slumber, he is swept away quickly.
Entreat her to cling to Christ as her pasture, where none can thrust her out, and to trust not in human skill alone. If her faith be firm, she becomes a daughter indeed, to whom the Lord says, "Be of good cheer; your faith has made you whole." That faith will keep better than any watchman. Do not pray for ease in all things, for the calling of a Christian is to pass from safety to dangers, and throughout all they require the strictest circumspection. Yet in the midst of trials, justice and prayer bring a peace that lets sleep come without fear. Let her not neglect the Lord's Day nor the gathering of the Church; for there the Oblation and the prayers of the faithful secure her more than walls.
