We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up these burdens to Him in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and through whom we have access to the Father. Father, we know that You see every detail of our lives, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. We trust in Your sovereignty and goodness, even in the midst of sleepless nights and difficult circumstances.
Heavenly Father, we first lift up this precious little one who struggles to sleep. We ask that You would calm his spirit and bring peace to his body. Lord, You tell us in Psalm 127:2, "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, to eat the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to those he loves." We ask that You would give this child the sleep he needs, and grant wisdom and patience to his parents as they care for him. Strengthen them in their weariness, and remind them that You are their ever-present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Lord, we also bring before You the situation with our daughter and her boyfriend. Father, we know that Your Word is clear about relationships outside of marriage. In 1 Corinthians 6:18, we are told to "flee sexual immorality," and in Hebrews 13:4, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers." We rebuke the sin of fornication in this situation, and we ask that You would convict their hearts and lead them to repentance. Father, we pray that this time of being "stuck" together would not be an opportunity for temptation, but rather a time for reflection and a turning away from sin. We ask that You would protect our daughter’s heart and mind, and that she would seek Your will above all else. If it is Your will, Lord, we pray that she would find a godly spouse who loves You and desires to honor You in all things.
Father, we also lift up our son-in-law who has lost his job. Lord, You are the Provider, and we trust in Your promise in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We ask that You would open doors of opportunity for him, and grant him favor in the eyes of potential employers. Give him peace in this season of uncertainty, and remind him that his worth is not found in his job, but in Christ alone. Strengthen his faith, and help him to lean on You for his daily bread.
Lord, we also pray for the safety of our daughter during this ice storm. Protect her and her vehicle from harm, and give her wisdom in her decisions. We know that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask that You would surround her with Your angels and keep her safe until the roads are clear.
Father, we confess that we are weak and weary, but we know that Your strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). We ask that You would fill us with Your Holy Spirit, giving us the endurance and faith to trust in You through every trial. Remind us that You are working all things together for our good, even when we cannot see the outcome (Romans 8:28).
We pray all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father. May Your will be done in each of these situations, and may Your name be glorified through it all. Amen.
