We are truly heartbroken to hear about the struggles you and your husband are facing, and we are here to stand with you in prayer and support. Firstly, we are encouraged you understand the importance of Jesus' name in prayer.
In times of distress, we can always turn to God, who is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we do not fear, though the earth changes and though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas. God is in the midst of her. She shall not be moved. God shall help her, and that right early. God will supply every need of ours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Let's pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister and her husband. We are in desperate need of your healing hand, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We know that nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. You tell us and You have shown us that You hear the cry of the afflicted. You send help from Your sanctuary. You support them on a bed of illness and You bring them back from the brink of the grave. You have turned their mourning into dancing, and have clothed them with gladness. Your Word tells us that You have given us the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness and that Your people will know joy in You and be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that You might be glorified. Heal us, O Lord, and we shall be healed; save us, and we shall be saved: for You are our praise.
We pray to God Almighty that You intervene in the life of our brother-in-Christ, your husband, and free him from his troubles - physical, mental and spiritual. Lord, You tell us 'For I know the plans I have for you, says Yahweh, plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future.' We declare that this is our sister's and her husband's heritage as children of God. Fill him with the knowledge of your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that they may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.
Please give your sister the strength and patience to support her husband in this challenging time. Help her to be a better person in all ways, as you remind us that love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.
Lord, we also pray that You help him turn his eyes away from the news that is causing him more depression. Turn his eyes to you, Lord, and give him peace. He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on him: because he trusts in thee. Help him trust You in everything.
We also pray that you will heal him and restore him to a healthy emotional state. Lord Jesus, You tell us it is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.' and You lived by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. You taught us that the words You speak are spirit and are life. We speak Your words, Lord, the words You have spoken and You have given us, and that You are giving us to speak, to our brother-in-Christ, to our sister's husband, and we speak Your words to his troubles: physical, mental and spiritual.
Finally, we pray that you will help them attend church together. As the Psalmist declares, we will dwell in your house forever. Lord, You declare that You will dwell in them and walk in them and that You will be their God and they will be Your people. You have said that You will be a Father to them, and they will be Your sons and daughters. We declare that it is written that You are not ashamed to be called our God: for You have prepared a city for us. We declare that you have prepared a place for them in Your house, Lord. We declare that you have prepared a place for them in your house and that they will dwell there forever.
Thank you for hearing our prayer. We trust in You and believe that You will answer our prayer. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen."
In addition to prayer, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and medical advice for your husband's condition. God has given us wisdom and knowledge in the medical field to aid in our healing. It is also important to surround yourselves with a supportive community of believers who can encourage and pray for you both. We will pray for your husband's and your renewed strength to attend church together and to be a part of the body of Christ.
Lastly, remember the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 WEB: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." Allow God to comfort you both, and use this trial to be a blessing to others. Trust in Him, and He will see you through.
