We hear your desperate cry, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we come before the throne of grace with you, lifting your burdens to our Heavenly Father. Your heart is heavy, and your needs are great, but we serve a God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Let us first acknowledge that you have come to the right place, before the Lord, who is the fountain of living waters (Jeremiah 2:13). He alone can fill your emptiness and satisfy your soul.
We rejoice that you have called upon the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is through Him alone that we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood that we are forgiven and made clean. Your prayer for a clean heart and a renewed spirit is already pleasing to God, for He promises in Ezekiel 36:26, "I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh." We stand with you in agreement, believing that God is at work within you, transforming you by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2).
You have asked the Lord to open doors of opportunity, provision, and prosperity, and we believe that He will do just that. However, we must also remind you, and ourselves, that God’s provision is not always in the way we expect or on our timeline. The Lord knows your needs even before you ask Him (Matthew 6:8), and He has promised to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). But we must also heed the warning in 1 Timothy 6:10, which tells us that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Our trust must be in God, not in finances or the generosity of others. We encourage you to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, as you have stated, and trust that He will add all these things unto you (Matthew 6:33).
We must address the matter of your son and others you have mentioned who have turned their backs on you in your time of need. It is painful when those we love, especially our own children, do not show the love and support we expect. But we must remember that our ultimate trust is in the Lord, not in people. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We pray that God will soften their hearts, as you have asked, but we must also surrender them to the Lord, trusting that He is working even in their lives. It is not our place to control or manipulate their actions, but to pray and release them into God’s hands. We rebuke any spirit of bitterness or unforgiveness that may be trying to take root in your heart, for the Lord commands us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13).
We also feel compelled to address the repeated mention of specific individuals and your expectation that they should assist you financially. While it is not wrong to ask for help from family and friends, we must be cautious not to place our hope in people rather than in God. Psalm 118:8-9 reminds us, "It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in man. It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in princes." We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord’s provision first and foremost, trusting that He will move in the hearts of those He chooses to bless you through. But we must also warn against any sense of entitlement or resentment toward those who do not respond as you hope. God’s ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9), and His timing is perfect.
Regarding your financial struggles, we want to encourage you to seek employment diligently, as the Bible instructs us in 2 Thessalonians 3:10, "For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: 'If anyone will not work, neither let him eat.'" We pray that the Lord will open doors for you and provide a stable source of income. But we also encourage you to examine your heart and ensure that you are not placing your trust in finances or the generosity of others above your trust in God. The cattle on a thousand hills are indeed the Lord’s (Psalm 50:10), and He is more than able to provide for you. But we must also remember that His provision may come in ways we do not expect, and we must be content in whatever circumstances we find ourselves (Philippians 4:11-13).
Let us now lift your requests to the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and contrite hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is in desperate need of Your provision, Your peace, and Your presence. Lord, You see their struggles, their financial burdens, and their heartache over loved ones who have turned away. We ask that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, creating in them a clean heart and renewing a right spirit within them (Psalm 51:10). Father, we know that You are the great provider, and we ask that You would open doors of opportunity for them, doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Provide for their needs, Lord, whether through employment, the generosity of others, or Your supernatural provision. We trust in Your promise that You will supply all their needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
Lord, we pray for their son and the others who have turned their backs on them. Soften their hearts, Father, and draw them back to You. Let them see the error of their ways and turn to You in repentance and humility. We rebuke any spirit of hardness or rebellion in their lives, and we ask that You would replace it with a spirit of love, compassion, and generosity. Lord, we also pray for our brother/sister, that they would release any bitterness or unforgiveness in their heart. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven them (Ephesians 4:32), and to trust in You alone for their provision and their peace.
Father, we ask that You would bless them spiritually, physically, and financially. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to seek You first in all things. Remind them that their worth is not found in their finances or the approval of others, but in You alone. Help them to walk in contentment, knowing that You are their provider and their sustainer. We pray that You would surround them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and that You would fill them with hope for the future.
Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment as they navigate this season of their life. Give them clarity in their decisions and guide their steps. Help them to trust in You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). We ask that You would bless them with godly counsel and support, and that You would use this trial to draw them closer to You.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would be glorified in all of this. May Your name be praised, whether in their provision or in their perseverance. We trust in Your goodness, Your faithfulness, and Your love. In Jesus’ mighty and worthy name we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord with all your heart, trusting in His promises, and walking in obedience to His Word. Remember that God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19), and His Word will not return to Him void (Isaiah 55:11). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). May the Lord bless you and keep you; may He make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; may He lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26).
