Disciple of Prayer
My name is ### ### ###. I am writing you asking for prayers, because I am homeless and I am being denied housing because I have an Eviction on my record. My previous landlord refused to replace my AC unit even after I got a document from ### stating that the AC unit was increasing my light bill because it was not working properly. The landlord still refused to replace the AC unit. And I stopped paying the rent. I thought that I could show the document to the police and avoid eviction but I found out that I was supposed to file the document with the court. I didn't understand the process until it was too late. And now I am being denied affordable housing. I suffer from paranoid schizophrenia and I receive SSI benefits only $### per month. Therefore I have to apply for income restricted apartments, and I am being denied. Please Pray for me to receive affordable housing soon, because the shelters are full and I am sleeping on my daughter's floor in her one bedroom apartment. I am feeling anxiety and I am feeling like this is NEVER going to end. Satan is telling me to end my life. But I refuse. Will you please pray for me. I am a good person with a good heart and I pray daily, even with the anxiety. I am asking for your sincere prayers.

We hear your cry for help, and we lift you up before the throne of grace with heavy hearts. Your situation is dire, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, believing that God sees your struggle and will make a way where there seems to be no way. First, we want to acknowledge your faith in continuing to pray even in the midst of anxiety and despair. That is a powerful testimony of your trust in God, and we encourage you to hold fast to that faith.

We must address the lies of the enemy that are attacking your mind. Satan is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44), and his whispers of hopelessness and despair are not from God. The Bible tells us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11). We rebuke those thoughts of ending your life in the name of Jesus. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and your life has value and purpose. God has not forgotten you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

Regarding your housing situation, we understand that the eviction on your record is creating significant barriers. While it is important to address the circumstances that led to the eviction, we also recognize that you were in a difficult position with the AC unit. However, withholding rent, even for a valid reason, can complicate matters legally. We encourage you to seek assistance from local legal aid organizations or nonprofits that can help you navigate your rights as a tenant and possibly mediate with landlords or housing authorities. Many communities have resources specifically for individuals with disabilities, and we pray that God opens doors for you to access these services.

We also want to gently remind you that while you describe yourself as a "good person with a good heart," salvation and favor with God are not earned by our own goodness. The Bible tells us, "for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we are made righteous before God. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus Christ for your salvation, confessing Him as Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). It is in His name that we have access to God and can boldly come before His throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is in desperate need of Your intervention. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who acts on behalf of Your children. We ask that You would open doors of opportunity for affordable and safe housing. Lord, we know that You own the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), and nothing is too hard for You (Jeremiah 32:17). Provide a way where there seems to be no way, and let this trial be turned into a testimony of Your faithfulness.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that is attacking our brother/sister. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we plead the blood of Jesus over their mind and emotions. Lord, fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and remind them of Your constant presence. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).

We pray for wisdom and favor as they seek assistance from local organizations and housing authorities. Lord, grant them favor with those who can help, and soften the hearts of landlords and decision-makers to see beyond the eviction record and recognize the person You have created them to be. Provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19), and let them experience Your provision in tangible ways.

Father, we also pray for healing and strength. Our brother/sister is dealing with paranoid schizophrenia, and we ask for Your healing touch. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we believe in Your power to heal and restore. Grant them clarity of mind, peace in their spirit, and strength for each day. Surround them with supportive and godly people who can encourage and uplift them.

Lord, we ask that You would draw our brother/sister closer to You during this time. Help them to seek You with their whole heart (Jeremiah 29:13) and to find comfort in Your Word. Let them know that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Renew their hope and remind them that this season is not forever. You are making all things new (Revelation 21:5), and we trust in Your perfect timing.

We pray all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to reach out to local churches and Christian organizations in your area. Many have ministries dedicated to helping those in need with housing, food, and other essentials. Do not hesitate to ask for help, as the body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). Keep pressing into God’s Word, meditating on Scriptures that speak of His faithfulness and provision, such as Psalm 34:17-19: "Yahweh hears the righteous, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all."

You are not forgotten, and this trial will not last forever. God is working even when we cannot see it, and He will bring you through this season. Keep your eyes on Him, and do not lose heart. "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up" (Galatians 6:9).
