Urgent Prayer Request for ### in ###

Your urgent request for work has been heard and I have brought it before the Lord with the church, asking Him to remember your need.

I understand the weight of waiting through many interviews while your resources grow thin, and the desire for solid and honest work that will provide for your daily needs. The Lord knows this need. He superintends all things and He does not overlook those who look to Him. One thing alone is truly evil, which is sin, while poverty and hardship are not evil in themselves, and God often uses our need to teach us to trust Him more fully and to seek what endures.

Do not be weighed down with anxious desires, but make provision for what is needful for health and for your calling, and spend your chief care on spiritual things. This present life passes quickly like a dream, and riches gained in a dream vanish when we awake, but mercy and faithfulness and the work done for Christ remain. Whether the door He opens is in ministry, in marketing where you have experience, or in another solid field you are willing to take, pray that He will place you where you can labor with honesty, provide for yourself, and serve Him.

I have prayed for you in this way: Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son through whom alone is salvation, look upon Your servant in this time of need. You know his need for work and for daily bread. Open a door to decent and stable employment, and give him favor with those who are hiring. Grant him wisdom and strength in each interview, peace to his heart while he waits, and provision for his financial needs. Keep him from discouragement and help him to trust Your providence, to walk uprightly, and to use whatever gifts You have given him for Your glory. Provide what is needful and lead him to the place where he can best serve You and others. Amen.

Continue to seek diligently, to pray, and to do what is right before God. He is faithful to care for His own, and He will not forsake you as you trust in Him.

Your request for prayer during this season of job searching and financial pressure has been heard and taken to heart, and you are being lifted up before the Lord.

The story of Job speaks directly to moments like this. That book stands at the beginning of the poetry section of Scripture, along with Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon, coming after the books of the law. Although the history in Genesis goes back further, the book of Job itself is among the oldest writings we have, from a time perhaps as early as Abraham. Cultures and centuries have changed, yet the deepest questions Job faced are still the questions people face today, the cries over loss, provision, purpose and whether God sees and cares.

Scripture gives a background Job and his friends could not see. God Himself spoke well of Job as a man who was upright, who loved God and turned away from evil. The adversary had been watching Job closely, studying him and forming a theory about him, that Job only honored God because God had placed a hedge of protection and blessing around him, making him the most prosperous man in that region, and that if those blessings were removed Job would turn away. God permitted that testing, allowing Job to be stripped of his possessions, and what followed was broadcast widely. When three friends came to comfort him, they were unprepared for the depth of his suffering. Instead of comforting him they began to rebuke him, insisting he must have done something wrong, calling him a hypocrite and telling him to get right with God and all would be well.

Job answered them honestly. He said his grief, if weighed, would be heavier than the sand of the sea. He protested that he was not suffering because of hidden wickedness, and he wrestled openly with not understanding what God was doing. Much of what Job said in that anguish was the honest cry of a grieving man, recorded faithfully in Scripture, but not given as settled doctrine about life and death or about how God always works. The friends were wrong to assume that suffering always means God is punishing sin. God is fair and just, that is true, and at the same time His ways are higher than ours, as He declared through Isaiah, and Job himself came to confess.

What remains for us is the comfort that God was at work even when it appeared He had forsaken Job, and that comfort is for all who follow after and find themselves in hard places. Job longed for someone to stand between himself and God, to lay a hand on both and bring him near, and that longing is answered in Jesus, who alone is the mediator between God and humanity and who brings us before the Father.

In that light we are praying for you. We ask the Lord who sees your diligence, your background in ministry and marketing, and your willingness to take any solid work He provides, to open the right door for employment and to supply what you need as your resources run thin. We pray He will guard you from discouragement and from the voices that would wrongly tell you this hardship means you have failed Him, and that He will make His presence and provision clear day by day. We ask that He will give you wisdom in each interview and application, favor with those who are hiring, and peace in trusting His care even while you wait.

May the Lord provide for your financial needs, guide your steps into steady and honorable work, and deepen your confidence that He has not forgotten you but is working for your good through Jesus Christ.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer during this season.

We have continued to bring your urgent request before the Lord and we have been praying for His provision of a decent and solid job for you after this long season of interviewing. We have lifted up your strong ministry and marketing background before Him, and we have asked that He would open the right door for you, whether in those areas or in any solid opportunity that He knows is best for you. We understand the burden of this critical need and that your financial resources are running thin, and we have asked the Lord to make a way and to grant you favor and peace as you wait on Him.

We are standing with you and trusting the promise in Phil 4:19 that our God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus, and that as you seek first His kingdom He will provide what you need according to Matt 6:33. We pray that God will guide your steps, grant you wisdom and favor in each interview, and provide for you in abundance.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ. We pray in Jesus Name Amen.
