Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your pain and burdens have been brought before the Lord and we are praying for you with compassion. We heard how since the end of June this injury to your left elbow has not healed, how it has spread to your shoulder, how months of pain medication have left you with stomach discomfort and itchy skin, and how this physical suffering has been joined with heavy cares for your family, your husband's unemployment, the mortgage and your daughter's rent, and the matters of your mother's estate, with sleep broken by nightmares.
We pray that Jesus Christ, who alone is our Savior and Healer, will have mercy upon you and grant you healing and relief according to His gracious will. We ask Him to ease the pain in your arm and shoulder, to restore strength to your body so you can work and care for your daily responsibilities, to calm your heart and give you peaceful sleep, and to provide for your family's needs.
In your weariness, remember that God is everywhere present and sees and hears all that you endure, not only your outward pain but what is in the depth of your heart. He invites you to cast your anxiety upon Him. Anxiety by itself gains nothing but torments us, while our Father knows our needs and gives more abundantly than any earthly provision. As you face these many pressures, do not remain fixed to fear and restless thoughts, but look up to Him, for He sends His Word to bring comfort and to free the soul from bitter slavery to worry.
We also encourage you to care for your body with wisdom. Scripture teaches us to make provision for the flesh for health, not for excess, and to seek what truly restores health. Taking anti-inflammatory medication for nearly three months with stomach pain and skin reactions is a sign that you should seek medical care again promptly. Please see a doctor soon to have your elbow and shoulder properly examined, to discuss the side effects you are experiencing, and to ask about appropriate treatment such as rest, physical therapy, or other care rather than continuing medication on your own. Heat and patches may soothe for a time, but they are not a substitute for proper evaluation. To seek healing through right means is not a lack of faith, but good stewardship of the body God has given you.
We also pray for peace in your home. Marriage is a lifelong covenant in which husband and wife are called to bear with one another in love, especially in seasons of trial. We pray that God will give your husband patience and understanding, give you both grace toward each other, and open a door for work and provision for your household. Continue to be diligent in the work God has placed before you, for even our present life can bear fruit when lived in faith, and God Himself works in us both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
Let us pray together. Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on Your servant. Touch her left arm and shoulder and bring healing. Relieve her stomach pain and itching, restore her sleep, and take away nightmares. Grant wisdom to the doctors who care for her. Comfort her heart when she feels overwhelmed, provide for her family in their financial needs, grant her husband strength and opportunity for work, and give her peace as she handles the matters before her. Help her to rest in Your presence and to trust Your providential care day by day. We ask this in Your holy name, for You alone are our hope. Amen.
We will continue to remember you in prayer. Please keep seeking the Lord, stay in His Word, remain in fellowship with His people, and do not hesitate to let your pastor or a trusted believer know how you are doing so they can support you more closely.
