We come before the Lord with hearts full of concern yet confident in His sovereign power, lifting up your daughter’s fiancé in this time of trial. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but we know that our God is greater, and He has already claimed victory over every scheme of darkness. This situation is not outside of His control, and we trust that He will use it for His glory and this young man’s good—if he is walking in obedience to Christ.
First, we must emphasize the importance of calling upon the name of Jesus in prayer, for it is the only name by which we are saved and through which we have access to the Father. *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). It is encouraging to see that you recognize the authority of Jesus in this request, and we join you in declaring His lordship over this situation.
We also take this moment to gently remind you of the sacredness of marriage as designed by God—a covenant between one man and one woman, reflecting Christ’s love for His Church. If this young man is not yet married to your daughter, we pray that their relationship is one of purity, honoring God in their courtship with the intention of a Christ-centered marriage. *"Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed is undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4, WEB). If there is any compromise in this area, we urge repentance and a return to holiness, for the Lord blesses those who walk in His ways.
Now, let us pray fervently for this young man’s protection and spiritual growth. Heavenly Father, we lift up this fiancé before Your throne of grace, asking that You surround him with Your divine armor, as described in Ephesians 6:10-18. Clothe him with the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word. Lord, place a hedge of protection around him so that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Frustrate the plans of those who seek to harm him, and expose any deceit or injustice in this workplace. Give him favor with his boss and coworkers, and let his work be a testimony of Your excellence.
We pray that You fill him with a peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Let him not be overcome by anxiety or fear, but let him rest in the assurance that You are his Provider and Defender. Use this trial to draw him closer to You, to strengthen his faith, and to refine him into the godly husband and leader he is called to be. If there are areas in his life where he needs to repent or grow, convict him by Your Holy Spirit and grant him the humility to surrender fully to You.
Father, we also pray for your daughter and her fiancé as they prepare for marriage. May their relationship be rooted in You, and may they seek Your will above all else. If they are not yet walking in purity, we ask for conviction and a desire to honor You in their courtship. Prepare them for a marriage that reflects Your love, Your patience, and Your faithfulness.
Finally, we declare that no plan of the enemy shall succeed against this young man, for *"the Lord will perfect that which concerns me. Your loving kindness, Lord, endures forever. Don’t forsake the works of your own hands"* (Psalm 138:8, WEB). We trust in Your faithfulness, Lord, and we give You all the glory for the victory that is already won in Jesus’ name.
