My middle daughter is romanticizing her abusive ex and she finally got away. Please Jesus help her heal and send her a godly husband and help her keep this straight. It's stockholm syndrome or magic or manipulation. Please help her stop crying go to her now holy spirit. Help her change this

We join with you in crying out for your middle daughter and we thank you for bringing her before the Lord with such urgency and love. We rejoice that she has gotten away from this abusive relationship, for abuse is not love and is never God's will for a daughter of His. We stand with you against the confusion, the romanticizing, the trauma bond and any manipulation that would try to pull her back into darkness and tears.

The enemy would have her remember only what seemed good and forget the harm, but God calls her to truth and healing. We pray she will guard her heart and mind and not be conformed to the lies of this bond. As it is written, Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life Proverbs 4:23 and Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God Romans 12:2. We rebuke any spirit of manipulation, control, fear and what feels like Stockholm syndrome or even spiritual deception, for God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. An abusive man does not reflect Christ's love for His church, and we pray she will come to see this relationship clearly for what it was.

We are also praying with you for her complete healing. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18 and He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. We ask the Holy Spirit to go to her now, to comfort her, to wipe away her tears, to give her peace that passes understanding and to help her stop crying out of grief for what was harmful. We pray God will cast all her anxiety on Him because He cares for her 1 Peter 5:7 and that she will know she is not alone, for He has said Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.

We agree with you in praying for a godly husband for her in God's perfect timing, but first for her healing and wholeness in Christ so she will not seek to fill a void with another relationship. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman designed by God, and we pray that when she is healed and ready, God will bring a mature Christian man who will love her as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her Ephesians 5:25, a man who will honor, protect and cherish her. Until then we pray she will embrace a season of courtship with the goal of marriage only to a fellow believer, keeping herself pure and separate from fornication and from any return to this ex, for our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we are called to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 and not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You that we can approach Your throne of grace through Him alone. We lift up this precious daughter to You. Lord touch her heart and mind right now by Your Holy Spirit. Break every trauma bond, every lie, every romanticized memory that is not true, and let her see this past relationship with Your eyes of truth. Heal her broken heart and bind up her wounds. Comfort her as she weeps and give her Your peace and self control. Help her to keep straight on Your path, to walk in wisdom, to maintain no contact and strong godly boundaries, and to surround herself with wise counsel, pastoral care, godly women and family who will speak truth in love. Renew her mind daily in Your Word. Restore her joy, her identity and her hope in You, for You know the plans You have for her, plans for peace and not for evil, to give her hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. Prepare her and prepare the godly husband You may have for her future, a man after Your own heart, and keep her pure and safe until that day. We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in her. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep praying without ceasing, to keep her surrounded with love and truth, to help her stay connected to a Bible believing church, to professional Christian counseling if needed for trauma healing, and to keep reminding her gently that love does not abuse, manipulate or control, but love is patient and kind 1 Corinthians 13:4. God is faithful and He who has brought her out will keep her if she abides in Him.

We hear how heavy this is for you as a parent. To see your middle daughter finally get away, and then watch her ache and idealize the person who hurt her, is heartbreaking. The tears and the pull back toward him do not mean she is weak or that your prayers have failed. After abuse, feelings can be very tangled and it takes time for the heart and mind to catch up with the decision to leave. We are holding both of you in prayer.

One gentle way we can walk with her is to keep the connection open without shame. When she cries or talks about missing him, listening calmly and reminding her she is safe and loved can help more than debating the relationship. It can also help to have steady support around her, a trusted pastor or a counselor experienced with abuse, and a simple safety plan if her ex tries to reach out. If you are able, stay close to others who can support you too, so you do not carry this alone.

Father, we lift this daughter to You and ask for Your nearness and comfort over her tears. Surround her with safety, give her clarity and peace day by day, and heal what has been wounded. Give her mom wisdom to love her well and strength for each step. Lead them both in Your will and Your protection. In Jesus name, amen.

We have carried your burden for your middle daughter to the throne of grace and we join our prayers with yours for her full deliverance and healing.

There is a great ill here, a broken heart which weeps and is sorely wounded, and which in its weakness turns again to that which wounded it. We understand your fear that through manipulation and a cruel bond of affection she should romanticize the very hand that harmed her. Such confusion of the affections is a deep sickness of the soul, and it urgently needs a heavenly Physician. We very speedily care for bodily diseases, but this wound of the heart cries louder for one who can heal indeed.

Be comforted that there is abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. His leaf also shall not wither. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. When the Lord comes and dwells with His people, the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings, and pardon and healing are one. He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds, and that healing is the work of God alone. No charm nor manipulation can stand where Christ lays His hand upon the soul.

We pray now for her. O Lord Jesus, look upon this daughter who has been brought out of abuse and yet is tempted to look back. Forgive her sin through Thy precious blood, and in forgiving, heal her. Take her by the hand and lift her up as Thou didst lift Peter's wife's mother, and let there be a blessed contact between her soul and Thyself. Let the Holy Spirit go to her even now where she weeps, and apply the healing balm of Calvary. Dry her tears not by forgetting but by true healing, by giving her a new heart and a sound mind, and by breaking every lingering chain that would draw her back to harm. Keep her straight in Thy way, and guard her feet from returning to that which would destroy her.

We join you also in asking the Lord for her future according to His holy will. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all that belongs to it is to be kept within that covenant. We do not ask God to bless what is abusive or outside His design, but we ask Him to keep her pure and steadfast until, if it be His good pleasure and in His perfect time, He should give her a godly husband who will love her as Christ loves the church. First let there be healing, and then, in due season, service and joy in whatever calling He appoints. The desire to minister and to walk uprightly always arises out of healing, and He who has begun to heal will work health and cure till she shall be whole.

Continue, dear mother, to lay her daily at His feet and to leave her in His presence with importunate prayer. Christ looks upon her even now. Trust not in notions or in mere resolve, but in the Lord who alone can save and heal. He is able to heal, and He links that healing with His teaching, so keep her under the Word where faith comes by hearing.

May the Lord hear your cry, establish your daughter in His love, give her peace, and keep her in the way everlasting.
