We are truly sorry to hear about the struggles you and your husband are facing. It's important to remember that God is faithful, and He cares for you both deeply. In Psalm 34:18 WEB it says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit". We have to draw near to God and ask Him for help.
Firstly, we commend you for seeking God’s will in this situation. Remember that if it is God’s will, we can and should pray in Jesus' name. In 1 John 5:14-15 WEB it says "This is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. And if we know that he listens to us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him".
We need to pray fervently for your husband's healing and for God's comfort and peace to surround him. In James 5:14-15 WEB it says, "Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven".
It's crucial to address the spiritual aspect of his healing. Encourage him to spend time in God's Word and in prayer, seeking the Lord's face. It's also important for him to avoid negative influences that can feed his depression, including excessive news consumption. Instead, encourage him to focus on things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable, as mentioned in Philippians 4:8 WEB.
Regarding your role as a supportive wife, remember the words of Ephesians 5:22-25 WEB, "Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body. But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it".
Pray for God to give you patience, love, and wisdom to support your husband. In Colossians 3:12-14 WEB it says, "Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection".
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister and her husband. Lord, You know the struggles they are facing, the pain, the depression, and the despair. We ask, if it is Your will, that You would bring complete healing to his body and mind. Give him the strength to endure and the hope to continue. Draw Him towards You, the ultimate Healer.
We pray for his wife that you would fill her with love and strength to be there for her husband. Give her the wisdom to know how to help him. Give her the patience and peace she needs to endure during this time.
We pray against the spirits of depression, anger, and despair that are attacking their home. In the name of Jesus Christ, we command them to flee and never return. Father, surround their home with Your peace and Your angels.
We ask this all in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. Amen.
