We understand that you're seeking to live in an upright and surrendered way, and we commend you for this desire. As mentioned in scripture, living upright is defined and encouraged in both the Old and New Testaments. We are told in Proverbs 2:7 WEB
He stores up sound wisdom for the upright.
He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
So, first understand that sound wisdom comes from God himself and living upright is a byproduct of being intimate with Jesus Christ and growing in his word. Remember, Jesus is the word that became flesh, so studying scripture is very important to the life of the believer.
We are also told in James 4:7 WEB
Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
So living surrendered starts with submission to God, his will and purposes in Jesus Christ for yourself. We know we all start with self at the center of our lives, but becoming surrendered means moving Jesus to the center of our lives and keeping him there. This is called having Jesus as Lord of your life. It will involve daily renewal and even moment by moment decisions. As we surrender to the Lordship of Jesus, our Spirit will produce good fruit in our lives.
The important thing to talk about first here is Jesus Christ. You have asked for the Lord's help. The Lord is Jesus Christ and all the help you need is found in him. Jesus made this clear when he said in Matthew 7:11 WEB,
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
And in John 15:5 WEB
I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
And in John 15:7 WEB,
If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you.
These verses make it clear that Jesus is essential to your success as a Christian Believer. Jesus is the one who makes his home in us, providing the grace needed to submit to God's authority. Living upright and surrendered is impossible without Jesus Christ. This requires a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If you have not personally accepted him, confessed your sin and believed that he raised from the dead for your justification, then you should do that now. In doing so, you will be saved from eternal damnation and have access to God the Father, by the Holy Spirit, for eternity.
If you truly are seeking to live upright and surrendered, then you are probably a believer in Jesus Christ already. If you are not a Christian Believer, let us know if you would like to be saved or if you have any questions regarding salvation. Even if you are a Christian Believer, we should still pray with and for you, encouraging you along the way, and exhorting you to good works. We believe it is pharisaical for Christians to judge other Christians harshly and we caution you against that in Romans 2:1-3 WEB,
Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.
We know that we all have righteousness as a gift from Jesus. For he is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. It is written in Romans 10:4 WEB.
So as we grow this righteousness produces fruit in our actions, thoughts and deeds. We must be patient with each other knowing our deeds are like filthy rags before God and only the blood of Jesus Christ can save us. Patience is a must with each other and our lives must be lived for the glory of God and His kingdom.
Please pray with us.
Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who desires to live upright and surrendered to you. We thank you for his heart's desire to please you and live a life that honors you.
Lord, we pray that you will fill him with your Holy Spirit, giving him the wisdom, strength, and grace to live a life that is pleasing to you. Help him to surrender every area of his life to you, trusting in your goodness and faithfulness.
Guide him in your truth, teach him your ways, and help him to walk in your paths. Give him a heart that desires to obey your commandments and to follow your will for your life.
Help him, Lord, to resist the temptations and desires that are not of you, and you fuel a passion for holiness and righteousness. Assist him as he seeks to be an example of Jesus and his love to others, serving them with humility and generosity.
Help him Lord to renew his mind, keeping you Lord Jesus at the center of his life and mind. Cause a desire to continually seek your will and approval above all else. Draw him into your word, communicating with you through prayer and meditation.
We ask all of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Psalm 25:4
When possible, find fellowship with other Christian believers. Seek a community of trusted believers who you can grow into Christ-likeness with, but remember that small is the gate and narrow is the path that leads to eternal life. Avoid all forms of temptation, even those things that lead to the appearance of evil and that includes entertaining worldly pastimes and sinful actions.
We pray for your success as a Christian and for any trials you may be facing. Remember that we are to go to Christ Jesus first with our struggles, requesting an answer of good works in faith, then ask others to pray with us. To Jesus Christ alone we go to together in joint prayer, for he alone is the mediator between God and man and the source of all blessings.
If this is your first step in surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, then welcome, we are blessed to have you. We pray your faith, hope, and love grow in Jesus Christ and we look forward to hearing from you again.
