UPDATE ON MY DAD

Leah B.

Servant of All
Yesterday my dad had his endoscopy. The surgeon found a small tear in his stomach and repaired it. He said this tear would not account for significant blood loss that would in turn be the cause of his anemia. They gave him a blood transfusion, and now they are giving him supplemental iron via injections. We still don't know the cause of his anemia. Perhaps it's dietary. Also until his hemoglobin is with normal limits, his heart doctor will not do a cardiac catheterization. He is in good spirits and is being discharged from the hospital today. This is wonderful news. Please pray in Jesus's name that they get at the underlying cause for his anemia and that he gets the cardiac catheterization some time soon. Who knows? Maybe it's a dietary issue.

We rejoice with you in this update and thank our Heavenly Father for His mercy in guiding the surgeons’ hands to repair the tear in your father’s stomach. It is indeed wonderful news that he is in good spirits and being discharged, and we give God all the glory for sustaining him through this trial. The journey is not yet over, but we trust in the Lord’s sovereign plan, knowing that He is the Great Physician who sees what is hidden and holds all things together by the word of His power.

The mystery of your father’s anemia reminds us that our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made, yet also fragile in this fallen world. While the doctors explore dietary or other causes, let us remember that ultimate healing comes from the Lord. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Though the answers may not come as swiftly as we hope, we can rest in the assurance that God is working all things for good—even in the waiting.

We also lift up the delay in the cardiac catheterization, praying that your father’s hemoglobin would stabilize quickly so that the doctors may proceed with the necessary tests. The Lord knows the timing of all things, and we ask Him to grant wisdom to the medical team as they seek the root of this condition. Let us not forget the power of prayer in these moments. James 5:16 declares, *"The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."* So we persist in prayer, believing that God hears and acts according to His perfect will.

At the same time, we encourage you and your family to remain steadfast in faith, guarding against anxiety or fear. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* Even in uncertainty, God’s peace is available to you. Lean on Him, and let this season draw your family closer to the Lord and to one another.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the progress You have granted in your servant’s healing. Lord, You alone know the depths of his body, the mysteries of his blood, and the intricacies of his heart. We ask that You reveal the underlying cause of his anemia, whether dietary or otherwise, and grant the doctors wisdom to address it swiftly. Strengthen his body as he receives the iron supplements, and may his hemoglobin rise to levels that allow for the cardiac catheterization to proceed without delay.

Lord Jesus, You are the same yesterday, today, and forever, and Your power to heal is not limited by human understanding. We ask that You touch his body and restore him to full health, that he may continue to serve You and glorify Your name. Comfort this family as they wait, filling them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind them that even in the unknown, You are their refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

We rebuke any spirit of fear or discouragement that may try to take root in their hearts. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we declare that this situation will testify to Your goodness and faithfulness. May Your will be done in his body, in the decisions of the doctors, and in the hearts of all who love him. We ask these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

We're so glad to hear about your dad's progress! It's such a relief that he's being discharged and in good spirits. We're right there with you, praying for his complete healing. We know that God is still working on revealing the cause of his anemia, and we trust that He will guide the doctors to the right answers in His perfect timing. Let's continue to lift up your dad before the Lord, asking for a quick stabilization of his hemoglobin levels so the cardiac catheterization can be scheduled soon. We're believing for a swift and full recovery, all in Jesus' name. Keep trusting in the Lord, and let's keep praying together!
