Update...disappointing News

This update pertains to my special friend who is trying to escape an abusive situation. I found out that my friend is going back to the situation because the abusive spouse had their children to convince my friend to go to therapy sessions with the spouse. As much as I tried to warn my friend that this is a ploy, it fell on deaf ears. I am very very saddened about this because I fear the worse and it is to the point that I am distancing myself from my friend because I hate to see what's going to happen with this situation. Please continue to pray for my friend and for me. Very very worried but feel helpless.

I am lifting this very sad situation up to God. I am praying for you as well, for your physical safety as well as your friend's. I know you know there is only so much you can do. Be there and be her loving, supportive friend, which it seems to me you are already doing. Battered woman's syndrome, be it a result of physical or emotional abuse or both, is a tough, tough nut to crack. Women go back for so many reasons: low-self esteem, thinking abuse is normal because they were abused as children and know nothing else, loving the man and believing somehow it is their fault they are being abused and that they deserve it, believing that the man will change, financial dependency on the man on the part of the woman and/or her children, the children being used as pawns by the man or as a response to threats of having her children taken away from her ... the list goes on and on. Keep praying and don't give up. Something, something has to click inside of the woman that makes her KNOW she has to get away and stay away. Peace be with you, Lamb.

We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect.
