Unspoken prayer

Thank you for trusting us with this unspoken request for your family. God knows fully what you are carrying even when you do not put it into words, and we respect your desire to keep the details between you and Him. Prayer is not a time to inform God of something He does not already know, it is consenting to Him and opening the door for Him to do what He already desires to do in love and wisdom.

We want you to know you are not praying alone. The Lord has said that if two or three agree on earth concerning anything it shall be done, and we join our faith with yours in agreement for your family. Scripture teaches that the earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much. That righteousness is not our own goodness, but the standing we have through Jesus Christ, and it is that relationship that makes prayer real. To call God Father is to come as His child through Jesus, and if anyone has not yet come that way, the first prayer God waits to hear is simply, God be merciful to me a sinner, which establishes that relationship and opens every other prayer.

The purpose of prayer is not to get our own will done but to see His will done. True prayer begins with Him. He makes His purposes known to our hearts, we offer them back to Him in prayer, and He then accomplishes His will. That is why Jesus gave a pattern for prayer rather than words to repeat without thought. It begins with worship and awe at who God is, it puts His kingdom and His will first before our own needs, then it brings our daily needs to Him in petition, and it ends giving Him the kingdom and the power and the glory. When we pray this way we remember that prayer is worship, it is also petition for our own needs, and it is intercession for the needs of others beyond ourselves. Your unspoken family need is now part of that intercession.

It is not the length of a prayer or the number of words that makes it effective, but the earnestness and faith from the heart. Many prayers recorded in the Bible are very short. He hears the quiet prayer offered only in the heart as well as the prayer spoken aloud, and the Holy Spirit helps us by bringing needs to remembrance before the Father even when words are few.

So together we bring your family before the Father in Jesus name. We ask that He be hallowed in your home, that His will be done in each situation you are facing, and that He supply what is needed for both physical and spiritual needs with His perfect wisdom and timing. We ask for His protection, His provision, His comfort and His guidance, and for His peace to guard your hearts. We ask that He draw each member of your family closer to Himself and that you would see His faithful hand at work and find joy in seeing His answers.

There are faithful men and women who continue in prayer day and night for needs just like this, and your request is being held up among them. The Lord has brought you this far and He will remain faithful. May your prayer life be enriched as you rest in His giving nature and His willingness to care for you, and may you know the comfort and assurance the Spirit brings as you wait on Him.
