Beloved of All
Your unspoken request for your family has been received with care, and though the details remain between you and the Lord, He knows them fully. There is comfort in knowing that God does not need many words to understand the need of your heart. The Holy Spirit Himself intercedes for us when words are few, and the Father who sees in secret hears what is unspoken.
I want to join with you in agreement in prayer, as Jesus said that if two or three agree on earth concerning anything, it shall be done. You are not praying alone. Others are lifting your family before the throne together with you, asking God to work for His glory and for your good.
Scripture reminds us that the earnest, heartfelt prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much. It is not length or repetition that makes prayer effective, but sincerity and faith from the heart, often born out of deep need. We see this in Elijah, who was a man with the same nature as we are, and God heard and answered his fervent prayer. In the same way, God invites us to come honestly and expectantly.
Prayer begins with relationship. Through faith in Jesus Christ we are given the right to come to God as Father, and that relationship opens the way for real communion with Him. If that relationship is not yet settled, the first and most important prayer is simply, God be merciful to me, a sinner, trusting in Christ alone for salvation. Once we are His children, prayer becomes ongoing conversation with our Father.
Jesus gave us a pattern for prayer, not words to repeat without thought, but a structure to guide us. It begins with worship, honoring the Father and His name, then moves to seeking His kingdom and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Only then does it turn to our personal needs for daily provision, forgiveness, and guidance, and it closes again with worship, acknowledging that the kingdom and the power and the glory belong to Him. In this we learn that the chief purpose of prayer is not to get our own wishes fulfilled, but to consent to God and allow Him to accomplish His will in and through us. Yet He is a giving Father who delights to supply our needs, both physical and spiritual, as we look to Him.
Prayer also takes different forms. There is worship, where we stand in awe of who God is. There is petition, where we bring our own needs before Him. And there is intercession, where we carry the needs of others beyond ourselves and bring them to God, asking Him to work in their lives. Your request for your family is an act of intercession, and it is a powerful ministry. More is accomplished through such prayer than we will ever see on this side of heaven.
You do not need to inform God of what He does not already know. Prayer opens the door for the Father to do what He has been wanting to do, as we align our hearts with His purposes. He is faithful, and as we spend time with Him, He brings assurance and comfort and often a fullness of joy as we see Him answer according to His wisdom and love.
So be encouraged to keep seeking Him. Bring your family before Him in simple, trusting faith, worship Him for who He is, ask for His will to be done in each life and circumstance, and trust Him with the personal needs you hold in your heart. He is able to hear, to answer, and to raise up and sustain according to His perfect will. May the Lord draw near to you and to your household, grant wisdom and peace, provide what is needed, and deepen your trust in His faithful care in Jesus name, Amen.
