Beloved of All
Please pray for the former landlord in Jesus' name so that he feels remorse and resolves the issue with the police, both here and abroad, where the penalty is overdue/unpaid

Godliness brings practical benefits now and eternal rewards later, so embrace it fully in every part of life.
We join you in bringing this matter before the Lord and we appreciate your desire to see this resolved in a righteous way rather than with bitterness.

We understand your concern about this unpaid police penalty left by your former landlord, both here and abroad where it remains overdue. It is right to care about justice and to desire that what is owed to the governing authorities be paid, and it is also right to pray for the one who has done wrong that he would come to repentance. Scripture teaches us that the authorities are appointed by God for order and justice. Romans 13:1 says, Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Romans 13:7 says, Give therefore to everyone what you owe: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor. To leave a penalty unpaid is to leave a debt unpaid, and the Lord calls us to be people of integrity who do not evade what is owed.

We also hear your prayer that he would feel remorse. The Bible speaks of a godly sorrow that leads to real change. 2 Corinthians 7:10 says, For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world produces death. And Proverbs 28:13 says, He who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will obtain mercy. Our prayer is not simply that he would feel bad, but that he would be convicted by the Holy Spirit, confess his wrongdoing, and make restitution where he can, as Zacchaeus did when he said in Luke 19:8, Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone, I restore four times as much.

We pray together for you as well, that you would be kept from anxiety and resentment while you wait for this to be resolved, and that you would entrust justice to God. Romans 12:19 reminds us, Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.

We now lift this up together in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this former landlord to You. You see his heart and You know where he is and what he owes. We ask that You would work in his conscience and bring him to godly remorse and repentance for leaving this police penalty unpaid. Convict him of the need to submit to the authorities You have ordained and to pay what is owed, both here and abroad. Give him the humility to confess and the willingness to resolve this matter fully and honestly. We ask that You would remove any hard heartedness or evasion and replace it with integrity and a desire to do what is right before You and before men. Lord, we also pray for the one who submitted this request, that You would grant peace, patience, and protection from any consequences of this unpaid debt that is not theirs, and that You would let Your justice and mercy prevail. We trust this situation into Your hands and ask that Your will be done, in Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray for this man with love, even as you desire justice, and to keep your own heart free from bitterness. Matthew 5:44 says, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. Continue to commit this debt and this person to the Lord, trusting that God is both just and merciful and that He will bring conviction in His perfect timing.

We hear how wearing this is, to be carrying concern for a penalty that isn't yours but still hangs over you because a former landlord has left it unpaid here and abroad.

It is right to want things made right with the police and to hope he will take responsibility. At the same time, waiting for someone else to feel remorse can keep you stuck in frustration. We have found it helps to make a clear distinction between wanting justice to be done and holding onto the hurt while we wait. You can choose to release bitterness in your own heart, even as you continue to pray he will do the right thing and clear what he owes.

A steady next step that may bring some peace is to make sure you are not legally tied to his debt. If any notices have come to your former address or name, keep copies and dates, and consider asking a local citizen advice service or legal aid clinic how to document that you are no longer connected to that tenancy. That way you have clarity while you pray.

Father, we bring this former landlord before You and ask that You would work in his conscience and move him to resolve what is overdue with the police in both places. We ask for wisdom and favor with any authorities involved, and for protection and peace for the one who wrote to us, that this burden would not weigh on them day after day. Give them calm and clear direction as they take any practical steps. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your request concerning the unpaid penalty owed by your former landlord and we join you in bringing it before the Lord in prayer.

We pray that God, who is the great Landlord of all and to whom we all must give account, would work in this man that true repentance which is the gift of God and the work of the Holy Spirit. There is a carnal remorse that comes only from fear of judgment and does not give God glory, but we ask for that godly sorrow which is unto life, which humbles the heart, gives God glory, and looks out of self to Christ alone for mercy and remission of sins.

We ask the Lord to lead him to see his responsibility and to bring forth works meet for repentance, that practical repentance which does not only feel regret for a moment but turns from wrong and does what is right and honest before God and before men. As it has been said, repentance is to leave the sins we loved before and to show that we in earnest grieve by doing so no more. May the goodness of God lead him to such repentance, and may he be moved to resolve what is overdue with the police, both here and abroad, and to make full restitution where it is due.

We pray also that he would come to know the remission of sins that is preached in the name of Jesus Christ, for where there is true repentance there is the promise of full and free forgiveness through His finished work, and that alone can give peace with God.

We will continue to pray for you, that the Lord would grant you patience and peace as you wait upon Him, and that His will would be done and His name glorified in this matter.

Father, we ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is the way of salvation, Amen.
