University troubles

Beloved of All
Dear God, I’ve been doing good in university, thank you for this opportunity to be the first in my family to study in another language. Unfortunately, I calculated my credits wrong, and I’m worried I’ll have to tell my parents that I need to take some more time. Lord, remind me that this is not denial of my destiny, but a small delay. Bless my family with wisdom and compassion so that we may pull through together. Guide my advisors to help me graduate as soon as possible. Finally, please give me the strength to keep myself together.

We thank God with you for the opportunity He has given you to be the first in your family to study in another language and we rejoice that you have been doing well in your university studies. We understand the worry and disappointment you feel in realizing you calculated your credits incorrectly and now face the need to tell your parents that you will need more time to graduate. We want to remind you that God sees your diligence and your heart to honor your family and He is not surprised by this delay.

We hear your prayer asking the Lord to remind you that this is not a denial of your destiny but a small delay, and that is a biblical truth to hold onto. A man's heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9. For we know the thoughts that we think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. What feels like a setback to you is still within His good plan and He is able to work all things together for good for those who love Him. Romans 8:28. We encourage you not to let this moment define you or cause you to be discouraged, for let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9.

We also gently want to speak to you about how you approached God in your request. You said Dear God, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to come to God the Father in His name. It is in Jesus name that our prayers are heard.

We stand with you in prayer for wisdom and grace as you speak with your parents. God calls us to honor our father and mother, which includes walking in honesty and humility with them. Ephesians 6:2-3. We pray that you will go to them in truth and with a clear plan from your advisors, trusting that God will give them compassion and understanding. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5. We pray He will give that wisdom liberally to you, your family, and your advisors.

We also pray for your strength and peace as you keep yourself together during this stressful time. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear student to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You for the gifts and perseverance You have given and for the way You have sustained this work in a second language. Lord, calm the anxious thoughts and replace worry with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Give wisdom and clarity as the credits are reviewed and guide the advisors to provide clear and helpful direction so that graduation can come as soon as possible according to Your will. Grant the parents hearts of wisdom, compassion and grace to receive this news with love and unity, so this family may pull through together and be strengthened. Help this student to walk in diligence and integrity, doing all things heartily as for You and not for men. Colossians 3:23. Give strength for each day and remind this heart that Your timing is perfect and that a delay is not a denial. We ask all these things in the saving and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to meet with your academic advisor as soon as possible to make a clear plan, write down the remaining requirements, and then share that plan openly with your parents. Continue to commit your work and your future to the Lord in prayer each day, trusting that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.

We can hear how much this university opportunity means to you, especially as the first in your family to study in another language. That is a real accomplishment, and it makes sense that discovering a miscalculation in your credits would feel heavy and bring worry about having to tell your parents.

Needing more time does not erase the good work you have already done. A delay, while disappointing, is not the same as losing your direction. It is understandable to feel anxious while you wait for clear answers.

One practical step that may help steady you is to get the facts on paper before that family conversation. If you have not already, we encourage you to meet soon with your academic advisor with your transcript and degree requirements. Ask for a written plan showing exactly what remains, how long it will take, and any options to finish efficiently. Having that plan can make it easier to talk openly with your parents about what happened and what comes next, and it gives everyone something concrete to consider together.

We are carrying this with you in prayer and we admire your desire to keep going and to keep your family close through it.

Father, we lift this student to You. Give calm and clarity in the days ahead, wisdom for advisors as they help map a path forward, and grace and understanding within this family. Strengthen and steady our friend as You lead step by step, in Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has come before the Lord with both thanksgiving and trembling, and it is right that you should bring both together to His throne. You thank Him for the great opportunity given to you, to be the first in your family to study in another language, and this is indeed a gift freely given of Divine Grace. As it has been said, everything is of Divine Grace, it is given of Grace, it is received through Grace, and it is understood by Grace. From sin's pit to Heaven's gate, and in all the lesser roads of this life, the way is paved with Grace.

You have found a miscalculation in your credits, and now fear the sorrow of telling your parents that more time will be required. Take heart, for this delay is not a denial of the purpose God has for you. Grace lays the foundation and Grace shall crown the work through everlasting days. The Lord who began this good work in you is able to complete it, and His Grace reigns even in the midst of infirmity and disappointment. He does not preserve us by a mechanical chain, but by a holy and sustaining power that keeps us day by day.

Let us pray together.

O Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your sovereign Grace which has opened this door of learning and sustained this student far from home in another tongue. We ask You to grant peace to a troubled heart, and to remind this soul that Your hand is not shortened by a small delay, but that You work all things according to Your good purpose. Bless the family, we pray, with wisdom and compassion, that they may hear this news with understanding and pull through together in love. Grant wisdom to advisors, that they may guide with clarity and kindness and help toward graduation by the best and soonest path that Your providence allows. And grant strength to keep together in heart and mind, to persevere not by mere will, but by resting wholly and simply in the power of Grace which is in Christ Jesus.

Remember that Grace engenders a holy caution and a steady hope. Keep on seeking His Grace, dear soul, and believe still, for it is contrary to His nature to refuse to bless those who seek Him. He will enrich you with the treasure of His Grace, clothe you with righteousness, and comfort you with His love in this trial as in all others. Cast your care upon Him, be diligent in what He has given you to do, and trust Him for the outcome.

May the Lord keep you, establish you, and bring you to the completion of this labour for His glory.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
