Understanding God’s will for me and my family

Laywood

Disciple of Prayer
Dear Lord, please help me to know your path for me and that I may make the right decision that will help my family and bring stability to our life. I have been without a job for nearly three months. My husband is unable to hold a full time job and is slowly going blind. He recently lost his daughter to a drunk driver and needs your comfort Lord. Please Lord help us to wait on your timing and know you work all things for good. I ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

We come before you now, lifting up this dear sister and her family in fervent prayer, knowing that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The weight of unemployment, physical suffering, and profound grief is heavy, but we know that our God is a God of comfort, provision, and perfect timing. You have called us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us, and so we do now, trusting in His sovereignty.

The loss of a child is one of the deepest sorrows a parent can endure, and we mourn with this father who is also facing the challenge of diminishing sight. The Lord Jesus Himself wept at the grave of Lazarus, showing us that grief is not foreign to Him. Yet, He is the resurrection and the life, and in Him, we have hope beyond the grave. We pray that this father would feel the arms of Jesus wrapped around him, comforting him in a way that only the Holy Spirit can. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4, WEB). May he find solace in the promise that one day, every tear will be wiped away, and death will be no more (Revelation 21:4).

To this sister, we say: your faith in seeking God’s will and timing is a testament to your trust in Him. The lack of employment is a trial, but it is not without purpose. The Lord uses such seasons to refine us, draw us closer to Him, and remind us that our worth is not in what we do but in whose we are—children of the Most High God. "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). We pray that the Lord would open doors of opportunity for you, doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). May He provide not just a job, but the *right* job—one that aligns with His will and brings stability to your home. Remember that even in waiting, you are not idle. The Lord is at work, preparing what is ahead, and He will sustain you in the meantime. "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19, WEB).

We also lift up the physical struggle of this husband’s failing eyesight. Our bodies may weaken, but our God is strength. We pray for healing, for the Lord’s hand to restore and sustain. If it is His will to walk this path of diminishing sight, we ask for grace, adaptability, and the provision of resources to aid in this season. The Lord is the one who gives sight to the blind (Luke 4:18), and we trust in His mercy.

To this family, we encourage you to lean on one another and on the body of Christ. You are not alone in this. The church is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and we urge you to allow others to come alongside you in practical ways—whether through meals, prayer, or support. There is no shame in needing help; it is a reflection of God’s design for community.

We also remind you that even in the darkest valleys, the Lord is working all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). This does not mean the journey will be easy, but it *does* mean it has meaning. Cling to the promise that the testing of your faith produces endurance, and endurance must do its work so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing (James 1:2-4).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts heavy yet hopeful, lifting up this family to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see their struggles—the grief that feels unbearable, the uncertainty of provision, the physical limitations, and the weight of waiting. We ask that You would wrap them in Your peace, a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Comfort this father as only You can, Lord. Remind him that his daughter is safe in Your arms, and that You are near to him in his sorrow. Restore his sight if it be Your will, and if not, give him the strength and resources to navigate this season with dignity and faith.

Father, we ask for Your provision over this sister. Open doors of employment that align with Your will for her life. Give her wisdom in decisions, favor in interviews, and the assurance that You are her Provider. Help this family to trust in Your timing, even when it feels delayed. Remind them that You are not slow in keeping Your promises, but patient toward them (2 Peter 3:9).

Lord, we pray for unity in this marriage. In times of hardship, the enemy seeks to divide, but we ask that You would bind this couple together in love, prayer, and mutual encouragement. May their home be a place of refuge, where Your presence is tangible and Your Word is the lamp to their feet.

We rebuke any spirit of fear, despair, or doubt that would seek to creep into their hearts. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but You, Lord, have come to give life abundantly (John 10:10). Fill this family with Your hope, Your joy, and Your unshakable confidence in Your goodness.

Finally, Father, we thank You that You are already at work in ways they cannot see. We thank You for Your faithfulness, even when the path is unclear. Help them to fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2). May they find rest in You, knowing that You are their Shepherd, and they shall not want (Psalm 23:1).

We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We're standing with you, sister, in this time of uncertainty and grief. We know the weight of unemployment, the fear of the future, and the pain of loss. But we also know the One who bears all burdens and gives rest to the weary. We're lifting you up in prayer, asking the Lord to reveal His path for you and your family, to give you wisdom in decision-making, and to provide for your needs.

We're reminded of the story of Abraham, who was called to leave his home and follow God's voice. He didn't know where he was going, but he trusted in God's promise. Let's trust that God has a purpose in this season of waiting, and that He will make a way where there seems to be no way.

We're also praying for your husband, that the Lord would comfort him in his sorrow and give him strength for the journey ahead. We ask for healing for his eyes, but if that's not His will, we pray for grace to adapt and the provision of resources to help in this season.

Remember, you're not alone. The body of Christ is here to support you, to bear your burdens, and to walk alongside you. Let's encourage one another, lift each other up in prayer, and trust that God is working all things together for our good.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
