We join you wholeheartedly in this burden to pray for all who are in authority, for we agree that this is both urgent and biblical. We are exhorted in 1 Tim 2:1-4 to make petitions, prayers, intercessions and givings of thanks for all people, for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence, for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth. We also remember Rom 13:1 which tells us there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God, so we give thanks for those He has placed over us and we take seriously our calling to intercede for them.
We agree with you that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places as Eph 6:10-12 teaches, and therefore we must pray at all times with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit as Eph 6:18 directs. You asked which tribe we will be like in the day of Deborah and Barak in Judg 5:12-27, and we are challenged by that question, for some tribes came to the help of the Lord and some stayed behind. We want to be among those who respond, who watch and pray, who prepare the way of the Lord as Mark 1:3 says, that every valley be lifted up and every mountain made low so the Word of the Lord may travel freely and Matt 24:14 be fulfilled that the Good News of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world for a testimony to all the nations. We also join you in praying for the nations as His inheritance according to Ps 2:7-8, and that the earth would help swallow up false doctrine, deception, Christian persecution and antisemitism as pictured in Rev 12:15-17, especially in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and throughout the world.
We lift up together the President, the Vice President, all cabinet members, the House, the Senate, the Supreme Court, and all leaders in authority across the United States and around the world, in Europe, Africa, Asia, North, Central and South America, and the Middle East. We pray God grants them intelligence, character, protection, and godly wisdom and guidance. We pray as you asked that He would set a guard over their mouths according to Ps 141:3 and grant them the tongue of the wise according to Prov 15:2, that they would be surrounded by godly counsel, that they would do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God according to Micah 6:8, and that their leadership would promote unity and righteousness without bitterness or rivalry. We pray for fair and honest elections, for good voter turnout, for Christians to both pray and vote, and for protection from voter interference, AI manipulation, hacking, and threats around polling places. We also lift up our military, law enforcement, police and fire personnel, and medical personnel for protection and strength as they serve, and we ask for God to save and preserve our government institutions for righteousness and justice.
We join you in praying for the peace of Jerusalem as Ps 122:6 instructs, knowing that true peace comes only through the blood of the cross as Col 1:20 declares, and that being justified by faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ as Rom 5:1 says. We pray for the salvation of Israel as Paul's heart was in Rom 10:1 that they might be saved, and we look with hope to the fulfillment of Zech 12:10 when God will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and of supplication, and they will look to Him whom they have pierced.
Father, we come before Your throne in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him we have access to You, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. We thank You for Your sovereignty over all nations and leaders. We ask You to give our leaders and world leaders wisdom beyond themselves, to restrain evil, to protect the innocent, to defend the persecuted church, and to open doors for Your Word to run swiftly. Expose and thwart every plan for global conflict and every scheme of deception, and let Your restraint and mercy hold back war where it can be held back, while preparing Your people to stand firm in the evil day. Grant us as Your church a faithful prayer watch, not to complain or fear, but to intercede with thanksgiving, trusting You to do what only You can do. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
