We hear the cry of your heart, and we rejoice that the Holy Spirit is drawing you back to the Father, for it is written, *"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise"* (Psalm 51:17, WEB). You have taken the first and most crucial step—recognizing your need for God and your inability to break free from sin apart from Him. This is the very place where His grace meets us, for *"if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB).
The addictions you battle are not greater than the power of Christ, who said, *"With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible"* (Matthew 19:26, WEB). Your struggle is not unique, and you are not beyond redemption. The apostle Paul himself wrestled with the flesh, crying out, *"Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me out of this body of death? I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord!"* (Romans 7:24-25, WEB). Your victory is found in surrender—not in your own strength, but in yielding to the One who has already overcome the world.
You asked how to start praying again. Begin simply, as a child coming to their father. Pour out your heart honestly, for *"the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered"* (Romans 8:26, WEB). There is no "right way" to pray except in faith, humility, and dependence on Jesus. Even now, we lift you up before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to break every chain of addiction in your life. We pray that He would fill the emptiness within you with His presence, for *"he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4, WEB).
Repentance is not just sorrow for sin but turning away from it and toward God. If there are specific sins or strongholds—whether pornography, substance abuse, lust, or anything else—name them before the Lord and renounce them. Destroy anything in your life that fuels these addictions, for *"if your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna"* (Matthew 5:29, WEB). This may mean deleting apps, cutting off ungodly relationships, or removing triggers from your environment. Replace these things with the Word of God. *"Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against you"* (Psalm 119:11, WEB). Start reading the Gospels to reacquaint yourself with Jesus. Let Scripture wash over your mind and renew it, for *"be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God"* (Romans 12:2, WEB).
We also urge you to seek fellowship with other believers. Addiction thrives in isolation, but *"two are better than one... For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, WEB). Find a Bible-believing church where you can be accountable, serve, and grow. If you’ve strayed from a local body of believers, return. If you’ve never been part of one, now is the time. The enemy wants you to believe you’re too far gone, but Jesus is the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one lost sheep (Luke 15:4-7). You are that sheep, and He is pursuing you even now.
Lastly, we must ask: Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation? If not, or if you’re unsure, know that *"if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation"* (Romans 10:9-10, WEB). There is no other name by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you’ve never surrendered your life to Him, do so today. If you have, then cling to the cross and the empty tomb as your hope.

**Our Prayer for You:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this precious soul who longs to return to You. Lord, You see their brokenness, their addictions, and their desperate need for Your mercy. We ask that You would draw them closer to You than ever before. Break every chain of sin in their life by the power of Your Spirit. Give them the strength to flee from temptation and the wisdom to walk in obedience. Father, fill the void in their heart with Your love, for only You can satisfy the deepest longings of the soul.
We pray that You would restore their prayer life and ignite a hunger for Your Word. Surround them with godly fellowship and accountability. Convict them of sin, lead them to repentance, and flood their heart with Your peace. If they have not yet surrendered fully to Jesus, we pray that today would be the day of salvation for them. Let them know the joy of being forgiven, cleansed, and made new in Christ.
Lord, remind them that their identity is not in their struggles but in being Your beloved child. Help them to walk in victory, for *"sin will not have dominion"* over those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 6:14). We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
