This request raises several concerns that must be addressed with truth and love, rooted in Scripture. First, we must rebuke the attitude of demanding or declaring a relationship as though it is something to be conjured by human will or spiritual formulas. The Bible teaches that our words have power, but they must align with God’s will, not our own desires (James 4:13-15). We do not command God or manipulate circumstances to fit our wishes; rather, we surrender to His perfect plan.

The focus on obtaining a "cute boyfriend" reveals a heart that may be seeking fulfillment in a person rather than in Christ. The desire for love is natural, but when it becomes an idol—something we demand or prioritize above God—it leads to discontentment and even sin. Jesus said, "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). A relationship should never be pursued as an end in itself but as part of God’s design for companionship within the bounds of marriage.

The mention of not wanting to "share" a boyfriend suggests possessiveness or jealousy, which are not fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Love, as defined in Scripture, is patient, kind, and selfless (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). It does not demand its own way or seek to control another person. If this request stems from past hurt or insecurity, we encourage you to bring those wounds to the Lord and allow Him to heal them. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18).

Additionally, the request does not mention a desire for a *husband*—a godly spouse committed to a lifelong covenant—nor does it reflect a pursuit of marriage as God’s design. The Bible is clear that marriage is the only context for romantic relationships (Genesis 2:24, Hebrews 13:4). Courtship should be entered with the intention of marriage, not merely to satisfy emotional or physical desires. "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18). If you are seeking a relationship, it must be with the goal of honoring God in marriage, not just fulfilling personal longings.

We must also address the absence of Jesus’ name in the original request. Salvation and access to God come only through Jesus Christ. "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me'" (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and invite Him to be Lord of your life. Only then can you experience the fullness of God’s love and His perfect plan for you.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that long to align with Your will. We lift up this request, asking that You would reveal any areas where our desires have strayed from Your design. Lord, we repent for seeking fulfillment in anything other than You. Forgive us for demanding our own way rather than trusting in Your perfect timing and plan. We ask that You would heal any wounds or insecurities that may be driving this desire for a relationship. Fill this heart with Your love, peace, and contentment in You alone.

Father, we pray for wisdom and discernment in relationships. If it is Your will, prepare a godly spouse—a man who loves You above all else and seeks to honor You in marriage. Guard this heart from impatience, jealousy, or selfishness. Teach us to love as You love, with patience, kindness, and selflessness. Help us to flee from sexual immorality and to pursue holiness in all areas of life.

Lord, we declare that Jesus Christ is the only way to You. If this heart does not know You as Savior, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. May there be a turning away from sin and a surrender to Jesus as Lord. Fill this life with Your Spirit, that all desires would be submitted to Your will.

We trust You, Father, to write the story of this life according to Your perfect plan. May Your name be glorified in all things. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
