We lift your request for safe travels before the Lord with great earnestness, trusting in His sovereign protection over every step of your journey. The Bible assures us in Psalm 121:7-8, "The Lord will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forward, and forevermore." We stand on this promise, believing that God’s angels are encamped around you, guarding you in all your ways (Psalm 91:11).
However, we must address a concern in your request. While we appreciate your closing "in Jesus' Name," the mention of "Jesus Name" without the full acknowledgment of His lordship, sacrifice, and resurrection can sometimes become a mere phrase rather than a heartfelt appeal to the One who alone grants us access to the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." You are going out, and you are going out with a prayer on your lips. That is a sweet beginning. To lift your heart to the Lord Jesus before a journey is to hand the reins of your travel into the very hands that hold the stars. He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and even forevermore.
Do not be surprised if, as the day of departure draws near, your mind is visited by a hundred little fears. The adversary would love to have you fretting over the road, the weather, the thousands of things that might go amiss. But faith answers every fear by pointing to the promise. Have you not read that He shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways? The King’s Highway is under the King’s protection, and you who trust in Him travel upon it. Not a stone upon the path, not a bend in the road, not a stopping place along the way is unknown to your Father.
Picture a child walking through unfamiliar streets, but all the while the strong hand of his father holds his own. The child may not know the turns and crossings, yet he is perfectly safe, for his father knows every step. So it is with you. The Lord has numbered the hairs of your head; He will number the miles of your journey and each breath you draw. There is a mercy wrapped up in every moment appointed for you, a guarded passage through the ordinary that reveals the extraordinary tenderness of God.
Let your prayer be mixed with a quiet confidence. You have cast your request upon the waters of His grace, and it shall not come back void. The same Lord who heard Israel’s cry in Egypt and brought them through the sea hears your brief, earnest “Amen.” He does not measure our words but our faith, and a grain of mustard seed, true and living, can move mountains. Entrust your body and soul to the keeping of the risen Christ, and then set out with a light heart. The journey is His business now.
And so I commend you to Him. May the Lord Jesus walk beside you in every mile, and may the Holy Spirit fill each hour with a sense of His nearness. May the everlasting arms be beneath you, and may the light of His countenance make the road you travel a place of peace.
