Too nice? Prayers to be like###

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Jesus. I know that I can’t BE Jesus. I want to BE bold like HIM. I would like to get to the point of “Know God, No fear”. I’ve been in workplaces where I was told that I’m too nice or too quiet and I got bullied for it. I tried standing up for myself. I’m tired of dealing with bullies at work. Father in Jesus name show me how to cope. There are some people who are too depraved to respect boundaries. They’re called narcissists. Although not everyone is a narcissist, I was conditioned by my family of origin to put up with nasty behavior.

We hear the cry of your heart to walk boldly in Christ, and we rejoice that you desire to reflect His character—not just His gentleness, but also His righteous authority and unshakable confidence in the Father. You are absolutely right: knowing God deeply removes fear, for perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). But let us clarify something vital—being "like Jesus" does not mean being a doormat. Jesus was *meek*, yes, but meekness is not weakness. He overturned tables in the temple (Matthew 21:12-13), rebuked hypocrites with piercing truth (Matthew 23), and spoke with divine authority that left even His enemies stunned (Matthew 7:29). He was *kind*, but He was never passive. He set boundaries, called out sin, and never tolerated the defilement of what was holy.

You were not created to be bullied, belittled, or manipulated—whether by coworkers, family, or anyone else. The same Jesus who said, *"Turn the other cheek"* (Matthew 5:39) also said, *"Behold, I send you out as sheep in the middle of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves"* (Matthew 10:16). There is a time for silence, and there is a time to speak with the boldness of a lion (Proverbs 28:1). The issue isn’t that you’re "too nice"—it’s that your kindness has not been paired with the *wisdom* to discern when to set boundaries, when to confront, and when to walk away.

You mentioned being conditioned by your family to tolerate nasty behavior. This is a stronghold that must be broken in Jesus’ name. The Bible commands us to *"have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them"* (Ephesians 5:11). You are not called to endure abuse—you are called to *expose* it (Ephesians 5:13) and to *"stand firm against the schemes of the devil"* (Ephesians 6:11). Narcissists and bullies thrive where boundaries are weak and truth is silenced. But you, beloved, are a child of the *King*—not a victim, but an *overcomer* (1 John 5:4).

Here is the truth: **Fear of man is a snare** (Proverbs 29:25). If you are more concerned with how people perceive you than with honoring God, you will always be tossed by the waves of others’ opinions. But when you fear God alone, the opinions of men lose their power over you. Jesus did not please the Pharisees, the crowds, or even His own disciples at times—He pleased the Father. That is your calling too.

**Practical Steps in Christ:**
1. **Speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15).** If someone crosses a boundary, say so—calmly, firmly, without apology. Example: *"I won’t accept being spoken to that way."* No excuses. No justifications. Truth does not need defense.
2. **Pray for discernment.** Ask the Holy Spirit to show you when to speak, when to act, and when to walk away (James 1:5).
3. **Reject the lie that confrontation is "un-Christlike."** Jesus confronted sin *constantly*—but always with the goal of redemption. There is a righteous anger against injustice (Mark 3:5).
4. **Forgive, but don’t enable.** Forgiveness does not mean tolerating abuse. Even Jesus did not entrust Himself to those who rejected Him (John 2:24).
5. **Clothe yourself in the armor of God daily** (Ephesians 6:10-18). Bullies operate in the flesh; you operate in the Spirit. Their weapons cannot prosper against you when you stand in Christ.

**A Warning:** If you have been passive for a long time, stepping into boldness may feel uncomfortable at first. The enemy will whisper, *"You’re being harsh,"* or *"You’re not being Christlike."* But remember: **Jesus was *never* passive in the face of evil.** He was *strategic*. He was *wise*. And He was *unafraid* because He knew His Father’s will.

**Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we lift up Your child before You, who longs to walk as Jesus walked—not in timidity, but in *power, love, and self-control* (2 Timothy 1:7). Lord, break every chain of fear, every stronghold of people-pleasing, every lie that says they must endure what You never intended. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may speak with *divine wisdom* and act with *holy boldness*. Expose the works of darkness in their workplace and family, and let Your light *rebuke* the bullies and narcissists who seek to dominate. Teach them, Lord, when to be silent and when to roar like a lion for Your glory. Let them see themselves as *You* see them—not as a victim, but as a *conqueror* in Christ. And when the battles come, remind them that *You* have already won the war.

We rebuke every spirit of intimidation, every generational curse of passivity, every lie that says they must tolerate what You call evil. In the name of Jesus, we command these strongholds to *break* and declare that they will walk in the *authority* of Christ—gentle as a lamb, but fierce as a lion when Your truth is at stake.

May they know, deep in their spirit, that **perfect love casts out fear**—and Your love is perfect. May they rise up in the confidence of their identity in Christ, unshaken by the opinions of men, unbroken by the schemes of the enemy. Let them be a *light* in darkness, a *voice* for the voiceless, and a *warrior* for Your kingdom.

We ask all this in the mighty, matchless name of **Jesus Christ**, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

**Final Encouragement:**
Brother or sister, you *can* do this—not in your strength, but in *His*. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in *you* (Romans 8:11). Start small. Set one boundary today. Speak one truth. And watch how God honors your obedience. The bullies may not change—but *you* will, as you walk in the freedom Christ purchased for you. **The righteous are as bold as a lion (Proverbs 28:1).** Now go, and *be* that lion.

We're right there with you, friend. It's tough when you feel like you're being walked over, especially when you're trying to do the right thing. But remember, Jesus didn't just turn the other cheek when it came to injustice. He stood up for what was right, even when it wasn't popular.

You've got the heart of a lion, but maybe you've been acting like a lamb around the wrong people. It's time to roar, but remember, it's not about being aggressive, it's about being assertive. Stand up for yourself, but do it with kindness and wisdom. That's the Jesus way.

We're praying for you, that God would give you the courage to set boundaries, to speak truth, and to walk away when you need to. We're believing with you that you'll find the balance between being a lamb and a lion, just like Jesus was. You've got this, in Jesus' name.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God Loves You. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for allowing us the honor of lifting you up in prayer as you seek to reflect Christ’s boldness while navigating these difficult workplace relationships. It is a beautiful thing that your heart longs to know God so deeply that fear no longer has a place—and we are standing with you in agreement, asking the Lord to fill you with His courage, wisdom, and discernment. You are not called to be a doormat, but neither are you called to respond in the flesh. Jesus was both gentle and unshakably firm, full of grace *and* truth, and we are praying that the Holy Spirit would guide you in that same balance.

We know how exhausting it can be to face relentless bullying, especially when it stirs up wounds from the past. But take heart—God is not silent in this. He sees the injustice, He understands the weight of being conditioned to endure what should never have been tolerated, and He is faithful to redeem even this for His glory. We are asking the Lord to break off every lie that says you must remain in bondage to old patterns, and to surround you with His peace as you set godly boundaries. May He also place people in your path who will stand with you, speak life over you, and reflect His love in tangible ways.

If the Lord has already begun to move in this situation—whether by giving you new strength, opening doors for change, or softening hearts around you—we would love to rejoice with you in a praise report. And if the battle still feels heavy, please don’t hesitate to share an update so we can continue to contend for you in prayer. You are not alone in this, and we are believing with you for breakthrough.

May the Lord remind you daily that your identity is not found in the opinions of bullies or the wounds of the past, but in Him alone. He is making you bold, not for your own sake, but so that His light may shine through you in ways that leave no room for doubt: *this is the Lord’s doing*. We are praying for you, that you would walk in the confidence of being His beloved child, equipped with His authority and covered by His grace.

In Jesus’ name.
