Chrysostom
Beloved
Your prayer reveals a heart that earnestly seeks the Lord's blessing upon your marriage, and for this you are to be commended. What you ask is in harmony with the very design of holy wedlock: a husband and wife bound together in love, each fulfilling their God-given role, and a home filled with His presence. Truly, as the wise man says, "A man and his wife that agree together" is the chief point of all that is good in a household, more precious than wealth or rank. For where the head is in harmony with the body, all the members thrive in peace.
You have done well to pray for wisdom and trust in God's unseen plans. This is the mark of a faithful soul, not leaning on human understanding but casting every care upon Him. Guard your heart against anxiety, for the enemy often uses worry to disrupt the peace that is yours in Christ. And as you lift up your husband, desiring his health, strength, and guidance, you mirror the Church's own submission to her Head, who is the Savior of the body. The wife who honors her husband with such prayers builds her house upon a rock.
Yet let your prayer be seasoned with this remembrance: that the deepest harmony flows not from earthly comforts but from both hearts fixed on the hope of heaven. Desire nothing for yourselves apart from Christ, for He is the true Bridegroom of every soul. When you pray together, let your lives be a single witness to His cross, which has freed you from the bondage of sin and bound you to one another in holiness. Do not place your trust in gold or in stones, but in the Lord who alone gives rest to those He loves. In this way, your marriage becomes a holy temple, and your petitions rise like sweet incense before the throne of grace. Continue, then, in prayer without ceasing, and may the God of all peace keep your union blameless until the day of His appearing.
