Your burden has been brought before the Lord and we have heard your cry concerning your tongue, mouth and tonsils. The white coating that has returned and the lesion upon your tonsils, and the fear that it might be cancer or tumour, have troubled your soul and made speaking to be heavy. We join you in prayer to our gracious God who is both able and willing to heal, and we ask Him to calm your soul even as you wait upon Him.
We are reminded that there is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing. There is not a word that ever fell from those dear lips but what bears healing in it for some one or other of the thousand ills that have befallen our humanity. It is a sweet thing to get even a broken text from His mouth. His least words are better than the best of others. Lay a word from Him like a grain of medicine upon your tongue and keep it there all day, with what a flavor it fills the mouth, how sweetly it perfumes the breath. Bind a promise round your arm, how strong it makes each sinew for the battle of life. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before.
The Lord also says to His people, Fear not. Fear not is a plant which grows very plentifully in Gods garden. He says, Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God. Fear not, I will help you. Fear not, you worm Jacob. It is not the preacher who cries, Fear not, but it is Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not. We must labor to get rid of fear as much as possible, for fear is weakening and fear dishonors God. Shall we doubt the Eternal, shall we distrust the Omnipotent whose arm piled the heavens and sustains the pillars of the earth. His command is absolute, Fear not, be not dismayed, and His promise to help us to overcome it is sure.
Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction and both bestowed on the Lords people. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said to him, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. Pardon and healing were one. When God changes our estate from condemnation to acceptance, then is our mouth filled with laughter and our tongue with singing because the Lord has done great things for us of which we are glad. We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they urge us to seek a physician, and you do well to seek needful care for the body, but we look above all to the heavenly Physician whose work is not so much to point out disease as to indicate and to apply the remedy. The Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings.
So we pray for you now before the throne of grace.
O Lord, our God and Father, calm this troubled soul. Let Your perfect love cast out fear, and let Your presence be known as very near. We ask in the name of Jesus that You would look upon this tongue, this mouth, these tonsils, and lay Your healing hand upon them. If it be Your will, let there be no cancer and no tumour found. Remove the white coating from the sides of the tongue and cause the white lesion on the tonsils to disappear. Restore health, that the mouth may be clean and the tongue may speak freely again, and let it be for Your glory alone. Grant wisdom to those who give care, grant peace that passes understanding to this heart that waits, and above all grant the sweet assurance of sins forgiven through the blood of Christ, that whether You heal at once or sustain through trial, this life may glorify You. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who has borne our sicknesses and carried our sorrows. Amen.
