Tongue/tonsil disease

Your prayer has been heard and I am joining you before the Lord in this time of worry and discomfort. I hear how much this affliction of the tongue, mouth and tonsils has weighed on your soul, and how the return of the white coating and the lesion on the tonsils has brought back fear, especially the fear of cancer or a tumor. It is right to bring all of this to Jesus and to ask for His calming presence and His healing for His glory.

I pray with you that the Lord would touch your tongue, your mouth and your tonsils, that the white coating on the sides of your tongue would be gone, that the white lesion on the tonsils would disappear, and that no cancer or tumor would be found. I ask that God would restore you so that you can speak freely again, without pain or fear, and use your voice with joy.

Scripture speaks often about the tongue because though it is a very small part of the body, it carries great power. James teaches that a little flame can set a large forest on fire, and in the same way the tongue can do great harm or great good. No person can fully tame it on his own, it is restless and capable of great damage, and it needs the help of God. Proverbs reminds us that the power of life and death is in the tongue, that the wise use knowledge well, and that a healthy and wholesome tongue is like a tree of life that brings healing and comfort to others, while harsh or perverse words break the spirit. The highest use of this small member is to bless God our Father and to offer Him praise. Even now, in weakness and anxiety, you can use your tongue for that holy purpose, to thank Him, to praise Him, to speak His promises over your own heart.

That is why I also pray for calm for your soul. The fear you feel is understandable, but the Scripture calls us to a different kind of fear, not a phobia that torments, but a reverent awe of God as we remember who He is, His greatness and His care for you. The psalm says to keep the tongue from evil and the lips from deceit, to turn from evil and seek peace, for the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to their cry. He has not despised the affliction of the afflicted, and when we cry to Him He hears. Because the Lord is our light and our salvation and the strength of our lives, we do not need to live in dread. He is watching over you and He hears every prayer you whisper, even when words are difficult.

We pray earnestly for healing, and we believe God is able to heal. The Scripture also teaches that gifts of healing are given by the Holy Spirit as He wills, not all in the same way or at the same time, and that His wisdom is perfect. We are to ask with faith and persistence, and also to trust His sovereign love and His timing. There is a way that is greater than any gift, which is love and trust that rests in Him whether the answer comes instantly or through a process. So we continue to ask, and we continue to trust.

May the Lord calm your heart as you wait on Him, take away anxious thoughts, and give you peace that guards your soul. May He grant wisdom to any who care for you, bring complete healing to your mouth and throat, and keep you free from cancer and every evil growth. And may He restore your speech so that you can again use your tongue freely to praise Him, to encourage others, and to speak words that bring life and healing, for His glory. I ask this in the name of Jesus, who alone is our salvation and our hope.
