Tongue/tonsil disease

Your honest prayer has been heard and taken to heart, and I am joining you in bringing it before the Lord. The fear and weariness you feel as you wait and watch for changes in your mouth, and the disappointment of seeing the white coating return after you thought you were healed, are understood by God. Your desire that any healing would be for His glory and that you could speak freely again is a beautiful desire, and God delights in that heart.

Scripture speaks of a perfect peace that God gives to those whose minds are stayed on Him, because they trust in Him. That peace is different from just the absence of trouble. First there is peace with God, which comes only through the blood of Jesus Christ who made peace between us and God when we were at war with Him. When we have received His forgiveness and are reconciled to Him, then we can know the peace of God in our daily lives, a peace that passes all human understanding and guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. God is not the author of confusion but of peace, and He does not want your heart to live in turmoil and fear. As you keep turning your thoughts toward Christ, looking to Him and trusting His care, He can calm your soul even while you are still waiting for answers.

The Bible has much to say about the tongue. It tells us the tongue has great power, for life and for death. No person can tame it on his own, it is unruly and can be like a fire that defiles. With the same tongue we bless God the Father and we speak to others. The highest and most joyful use of our tongue is to praise the Lord, to thank Him and to speak words that build up and bring healing and comfort to others. A wholesome tongue is like a tree of life. Your longing to be healed so you can speak freely and praise Him is in line with that purpose, and God hears that longing. Even now, with the discomfort and worry you feel, any words of praise and trust you offer to Him are precious to Him.

We do pray for healing, and we ask Him boldly. The Scriptures teach that gifts of healing are given by the Holy Spirit as He wills, not as we demand, and that there is a more excellent way that undergirds all gifts, which is love with its fruits of joy, peace, patience, kindness, and longsuffering. That means we can ask with faith for God to touch your body and at the same time rest in His love and wisdom if the healing comes in a different way or timing than we hope. He invites us to come and find healing and peace whether we feel near to Him or far away, but for those who persist in turning from Him there is no lasting peace, only a troubled sea. In Christ, the war is over and we can have deep, abiding peace within.

So let me pray for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I lift up this dear one to You. You see the tongue, the mouth and the tonsils, You see the white coating and the white lesion, and You know the fear of cancer or a tumor. I ask that You would calm this soul with Your perfect peace as his mind is stayed on You. Please touch his mouth and tonsils and bring healing according to Your mercy and power. I ask that there would be no cancer and no tumor found, that the white coating and the lesion would disappear, and that he would be able to speak freely again and use his tongue to bless You and to encourage others. Give wisdom to any doctors who examine him and guide the care he receives. Above all, let Your will be done and let Your name be glorified in his life and in his healing, whether quickly or through a longer walk of trust. Fill him with Your peace that passes understanding and keep his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord daily, keep your mind on Him and His promises, and keep using your tongue even in small ways to thank Him. Please also continue to seek careful medical evaluation for what you are seeing, and bring those reports before the Lord as well. He is with you, He cares for you, and He will keep you as you trust Him.
