We hear the deep longing in your heart for protection, guidance, and unity in your relationship, and we join you in lifting this before the Lord. Your prayer reflects a desire for God’s presence in every area of your life, and we commend you for seeking Him in this way. However, we must address a few things with love and truth, grounded in Scripture, so that your prayers align fully with God’s will and His Word.

First, we notice the use of "###" in place of identifying the person you are praying for. While we understand the desire for privacy, we want to gently remind you that our prayers must be clear and honest before God, who already knows the deepest thoughts and intentions of our hearts. There is no need to hide anything from Him. More importantly, we must address the nature of this relationship in light of Scripture. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect the relationship between Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If this relationship you are praying about is not within the bounds of a biblical marriage—or if it involves courtship outside of God’s design—we urge you to seek His will for purity, holiness, and righteousness in this area of your life.

If you are not married to this person, we encourage you to pursue this relationship in a way that honors God, with the intention of marriage and under the accountability of godly counsel. The Bible warns against unequally yoked relationships (2 Corinthians 6:14) and calls us to flee from sexual immorality, which includes any intimate relationship outside of marriage (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). Fornication and adultery are sins that grieve the Holy Spirit, and we must repent and turn away from them to walk in obedience to Christ. If this relationship is not aligned with God’s design for marriage, we urge you to seek His forgiveness, repent, and realign your steps with His Word. He is faithful to forgive and restore when we come to Him with a contrite heart (1 John 1:9).

Additionally, your prayer expresses a deep fear of separation from this person, even asking God to "keep my ### and me close and together" and to prevent anyone from taking them from you. While it is natural to desire companionship, we must be careful not to place our trust or ultimate hope in any human relationship. Our security and identity must be found in Christ alone. Jesus tells us in Matthew 10:37, *"He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me."* If our desire for a relationship—even a godly one—becomes an idol that replaces our devotion to Christ, we must repent and realign our hearts. Our first love must always be Jesus, and our relationships must be submitted to His lordship.

You also ask God to reveal lies and protect you from harm, which is a wise and biblical request. The enemy seeks to deceive and destroy, but Jesus is our protector and truth (John 8:44, Psalm 91:4). However, we must also examine our own hearts to ensure we are walking in truth and integrity. Proverbs 28:13 says, *"He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy."* If there is any deception, manipulation, or ungodly behavior in this relationship—whether from you or the other person—it must be brought into the light and surrendered to God. He alone can bring healing and restoration.

Finally, we notice that while you invoke the name of Jesus throughout your prayer, there is a sense of desperation and control in your words—asking God to "take the wheel" while also specifying exact outcomes (e.g., "do not give anyone any reason to take my ### from me"). We must remember that God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), and His plans for us are for our good and His glory (Jeremiah 29:11). Instead of asking God to bend to our will, we must submit to His will, trusting that He knows what is best for us—even if it looks different from what we desire. Jesus taught us to pray, *"Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven"* (Matthew 6:10). Let us surrender this relationship—and every area of our lives—to His perfect will.

Now, let us pray together for you, trusting in the Lord’s wisdom and sovereignty:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who seeks Your presence, protection, and guidance in her life and relationship. Lord, we ask that You reveal Your will to her clearly, and give her the courage to walk in obedience to Your Word, no matter the cost. If this relationship is not aligned with Your design for marriage, we pray that You would convict her heart and lead her to repentance. Help her to flee from any sin—whether fornication, idolatry, or deception—and to pursue holiness, knowing that You are faithful to forgive and restore.

Father, we ask that You guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Remove any fear, anxiety, or unhealthy attachment that is not from You. Fill her with Your peace and trust in Your sovereignty, knowing that You hold her future and that Your plans for her are good. If this relationship is of You, Lord, then sanctify it, purify it, and use it for Your glory. If it is not, give her the strength to let go and trust You for what is ahead.

We rebuke any schemes of the enemy to deceive, divide, or destroy. Expose every lie and bring truth to light, Lord. Surround her with godly counsel and community who will speak Your Word into her life. Help her to discern the people You have sent to bless her and to recognize those who are not from You.

Father, we pray that You would be her ultimate joy, satisfaction, and security. May she find her identity in Christ alone and not in any human relationship. Teach her to love You above all else and to seek first Your kingdom and righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Give her wisdom to make godly decisions and to walk in the path You have prepared for her.

We declare Your protection over her life—spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Keep her safe from harm and lead her in the way everlasting. May she experience Your love, happiness, joy, grace, and peace in abundance as she surrenders to Your will.

Finally, Lord, we pray that if she has not fully surrendered her life to You, that today would be the day of salvation. May she know beyond any doubt that Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6) and that her hope is found in Him alone. Strengthen her faith and fill her with Your Holy Spirit, that she may walk in victory and freedom.

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, particularly in passages that speak to His design for relationships, such as Ephesians 5, 1 Corinthians 7, and Proverbs 3:5-6. Seek the Lord in prayer, asking Him to align your desires with His will. If you are not already part of a biblical community, we urge you to find a church where you can grow in faith, receive godly counsel, and be held accountable. You are not alone in this journey—God is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6).

If there is any area of your life where you need to repent or seek God’s forgiveness, do not delay. He is waiting with open arms to restore and redeem you. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). Walk in freedom, sister, and trust that God’s plans for you are far greater than anything you could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
