Your prayer to walk again without a cane has been heard and I am joining you in bringing it before the Lord. He sees this need and He cares about it deeply. Jesus never used His power to meet His own physical needs, but He was always moved with compassion when He saw the physical needs of others, and He often healed them. The Gospels show Him healing the sick, making the lame to walk, giving sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf, so that the crowds marveled and glorified God. He understands physical affliction and He is still compassionate today.
I want to encourage you with what Scripture teaches about healing. I believe with all my heart that God still heals today and that He is able. At the same time there is much about healing that we do not understand. We do not always know why some are healed instantly and others are not. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times about his thorn in the flesh and the Lord chose not to remove it but to give grace to bear it. That reminds us that we cannot presume healing in every case, but we can always come boldly to a compassionate Savior and trust His wisdom and love.
The Bible also shows us that healing is not always instant. There is one account where Jesus healed a blind man in stages. At first the man said he saw men as trees walking, his vision was blurred, and then Jesus touched him again and he saw clearly. That is the only gradual healing recorded in the ministry of Jesus, but it teaches us something important. Often healing is gradual. God has built wonderful healing processes into our bodies, and those natural processes are divine too because God created them. Any healing, whether sudden or step by step through doctors, therapy, strength returning over time, or peace in heart and mind while the body is still recovering, is from His hand. Do not be discouraged if strength returns little by little. God is at work even then.
Scripture also shows a connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. The apostle John wrote to his friend Gaius that he wished above all things that he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospered. That was not given as a blanket promise that everyone will be healed, but it was a heartfelt prayer that shows God cares about your whole person, body, mind and spirit. To walk in truth, to stay in fellowship with Him and walk in the light as He is in the light, brings health to the soul that can strengthen you even while you wait for physical strength.
There is a lot of confusion and even fakery today around healing, with people who try to whip others into a frenzy. True healing does not come through spectacle. In the Gospels people simply reached out to Jesus in faith, even just touching the hem of His garment as a point of contact to release their faith in Him. You can do the same in a quiet, sincere way. Bring your need to Jesus, ask those who love you to pray with you, and trust Him with the outcome whether it comes in a moment or through a gradual restoring.
The prophet Isaiah said the Messiah would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows, and Matthew tells us that Jesus fulfilled this when He healed all who were brought to Him in the evening at Peter's house. He bore our sicknesses in His suffering, and when we come to communion we remember His body broken for us. That is the foundation for our confidence to pray for physical healing.
So I am praying for you now, that the Lord would touch your body and grant you strength to walk again without the cane, whether by His immediate power or through the steady, divine process He has placed in your body. I pray He will give you renewed strength in your legs, steadiness in your steps, and encouragement in your heart. I pray He will heal not only your body but also bring peace to your mind and spirit as you trust Him day by day. And above all I pray you will know His presence and compassion in this season, knowing that whether the answer comes quickly or slowly, He is with you, He loves you, and He will be glorified in your life.
Keep looking to Jesus, keep walking with Him in truth, and keep asking. He hears and He cares.
