🙏 To Know God Intimately, The Hope of His Calling, Riches of His Inheritance & Exceedingly Great Strength in Raising Christ, Eph 1:17-21...

Beloved of All
Glorious Father, we thank You for Your gift of repentance and faith in Jesus. We're asking "give us The Holy Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to know You better. Grant the eyes of our heart to be flooded with light so we may know the hope of Your calling, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe, which You exerted when You raised Christ Jesus, Messiah, from the dead and seated Him at The Right Hand of Power in the heavenly places, far above all other rule, authority, power and dominion both in this age and the age to come." Thank You in Jesus' Name (from Ephesians 1:17-21)

The Old Man’s Sermon
A lifetime of learning and declaring God’s works means you can trust Him to sustain you to the end.
We join you in this beautiful and scriptural prayer and we say amen to your request to know God more intimately.

We rejoice that you have centered your heart on the greatest treasure of all, which is to know Him. This is eternal life itself, as Jesus said in John 17:3 that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. We thank God with you for His gift of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, for no one can come to the Father except through Him, and there is no other name by which we can be saved.

Your prayer echoes the apostle Paul's heart for the church and we pray it together with you, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come Eph 1:17-21.

We are encouraged that you desire not just knowledge about God, but intimate knowledge of God Himself. The Lord delights in this, for Jeremiah declares let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth, for in these things I delight, says Yahweh Jer 9:24. And we are reminded that we may know him, and the power of his resurrection Phil 3:10.

We pray together now.

Glorious Father, we thank You for Your mercy in granting us repentance and faith in Your Son Jesus Christ. We come before You in Jesus' name and ask as one that You would pour out upon us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You. Flood the eyes of our hearts with light, Lord, that we may truly comprehend the hope of Your calling upon our lives, the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints, and the exceeding greatness of Your power toward us who believe. Help us to grasp with living faith that this is the same mighty strength which You exerted when You raised Christ Jesus our Messiah from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, both in this age and in the age to come. Draw us into deeper fellowship with You, keep us abiding in Christ, and transform us by knowing You more each day. We ask this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We were so encouraged to read your prayer. The hunger to know God Himself more deeply, to have the eyes of your heart flooded with light about His calling and His power at work in you, is a beautiful request and we are glad to join you in it.

We hear in your words a desire not just for information but for real nearness with Him. One steady truth we hold onto is that coming to know Him is a lifelong, gradual process. It grows almost imperceptibly over time, with highs and lows, not all at once. It is more like training than trying. Time in His Word, honest prayer, and worship that lifts our eyes to Him are simple, core ways He uses to shape us, and it is His Holy Spirit who makes that growth happen when we cannot make it happen on our own.

If it is helpful this week, you might stay with this same prayer from Ephesians each morning and pray it back to Him slowly in your own words, then sit quietly for a few minutes to listen. Letting one small passage settle for several days often lets His light sink in more than rushing on. Walking this out alongside other believers who love His Word can also encourage you as you keep seeking Him.

Father, thank You for the gift of repentance and faith in Jesus You have already given. We ask You to grant wisdom and revelation to know You better, to flood our friend's heart with Your light, and to make Your hope and Your great power more real day by day. Keep them close to You and guide their steps. In Jesus' name, amen.

How sweet and scriptural is this longing that the Lord has placed upon your heart, and we do join our hearts with yours in this very petition. We thank our glorious Father with you for His unspeakable gift of repentance and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, for apart from His sovereign grace no man would seek Him, and no eye would be opened to see Him.

You have asked for that which is true wisdom. The world counts policy to be wisdom and craft to be understanding, but he who trusts in the Lord, happy is he. Christ Himself is the power of God and the wisdom of God, and there is no wisdom that can make a man a fit companion for heaven except the wisdom which is found in the revelation of God in Christ. To know texts and to know doctrines is not enough, for the letter kills, but the Spirit quickens. The saving knowledge is to know Him, the wondrous Person who left His starry throne and became man for our sakes, and to trust Him with a believing heart.

Therefore we pray with you and for you as the Apostle prayed, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. We ask that He who first flooded your heart with light when He called you out of darkness would flood the eyes of your heart with yet more light, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, that blessed and certain hope which purifies the soul and overcomes the world, and that you may know the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, that vast wealth which Christ esteemed so dearly that He counted it not robbery to be equal with God yet made Himself poor that we through His poverty might be rich.

And we pray that you may know, not in notion only but in living experience, the exceeding greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come. That same power which raised the Lamb who now sits upon the throne of God is toward you, to keep you, to sanctify you, and to bring you safely to glory. May the Holy Spirit who inspired this prayer teach you day by day from the Book which is His own testimony, for day unto day it utters speech concerning Christ, and may He make Christ in your heart to be your wisdom and your power until faith is swallowed up in sight. We ask this with thanksgiving in the precious name of Jesus our Messiah, who is our hope and our inheritance. Amen.
