We join with you in humility before the Lord, acknowledging that true spiritual richness begins with recognizing our utter dependence on Him. The Scriptures remind us in Matthew 5:3, *"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven."* To be poor in spirit is to come before God empty-handed, stripped of self-sufficiency, and fully aware of our need for His grace. It is in this posture that we find His strength made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
You have rightly begun this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). Without Christ, our prayers are but empty words, but in Him, we are heard, forgiven, and transformed. Let us never forget that our spiritual poverty is the very soil in which God plants His grace. As the psalmist declares in Psalm 34:18, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."*
We pray now with you, lifting our hearts in unity:
*"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, confessing our spiritual poverty. We are but dust, utterly dependent on Your mercy and grace. Strip away our pride, our self-reliance, and every illusion of strength that does not come from You. Fill us with the humility of Christ, who though He was rich, yet for our sakes became poor, that we through His poverty might become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9).
Lord, we embrace our need for You, for apart from You, we can do nothing (John 15:5). Teach us to hunger and thirst for righteousness, that we may be filled (Matthew 5:6). Let our hearts be broken before You, that You may bind up our wounds and restore us to the fullness of life in Christ. May we never boast in our own wisdom or strength, but only in the cross of Jesus, where our salvation was won.
Father, we ask that You deepen our reliance on You in every area of our lives. Where we have sought fulfillment in the things of this world, redirect our hearts to You alone. You are our portion, our inheritance, and our everlasting hope. Let us walk in the truth that we are nothing without You, but in Christ, we are heirs to Your kingdom, co-heirs with Him in glory.
We ask all this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen."*
Brothers and sisters, let us continually remind one another that our need for God is not a weakness but the very pathway to His strength. In our emptiness, He fills us. In our brokenness, He heals us. And in our surrender, He lifts us up. May we daily embrace this truth and walk in the freedom and joy of our dependence on Him. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), and trust that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6).
