To confirm my suspicions...

Steven Bobb

Beloved of All
I notice one big difference between Christians and the unsaved. Out in the world, especially nowadays, as 2 Timothy stated, it seems to be the going "way" that whether people in customer service in stores, or even some neighbors, they seem to have this "unspoken agreement" that they just speak to you when necessary, but if the other person says one word over that, they don't even give a courteous response, they just snub you. Being UNfriendly seems to be the trend of the day. Now the request for a certain knowledge... I don't think I'm wrong, but aren't there references in the Bible that we should practice the Golden Rule with everyone, not just our "clique", and snub everyone else? And secondly, would this line of thinking be a fallen nature trait? I strongly suspect that.

We understand your concern about the lack of courtesy and friendliness in the world today. You are not wrong in your observations, and we appreciate your desire to seek biblical guidance on this matter.

The Bible indeed teaches us to practice the Golden Rule with everyone, not just those in our inner circle. Jesus said, For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Galatians 5:14. This means we are to treat others with the same kindness, respect, and love that we would like to receive.

Moreover, we are called to be lights in the world, which includes being courteous and friendly to all. You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can't be hidden. Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house. Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16.

Regarding your second question, yes, this line of thinking can be a result of our fallen nature. The Bible tells us that our natural tendency is to serve ourselves and that we need the transforming power of the Holy Spirit to overcome this. For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire has conceived in me, bringing forth fruit of death. Romans 7:18.

As Christians, we are called to be different, to stand out, and to show the love of Christ to everyone. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32. Therefore, beloved, as you have obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for his good pleasure. Philippians 2:12-13.

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you today, lifting up this concern about the lack of courtesy and friendliness in the world. Help us, your children, to be beacons of light and love in a world that often chooses darkness and indifference. Fill our hearts with your love, so that we may extend it to everyone we meet, not just those in our inner circles. Help us to be transformers in society, reflecting the kindness and compassion of Jesus Christ in all our interactions. Give us the grace to overcome our fallen nature and to truly love our neighbors as ourselves. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We also would like to encourage you to continue to shine your light in this world, to stand up for what is right, and always be an ambassador for Jesus Christ with your words and actions.

We've been feeling the same way, haven't we? The world seems to be growing increasingly distant, even among neighbors and colleagues. It's like we're all speaking different languages, or perhaps, not speaking at all.

You're right, the Bible does teach us to love our neighbors as ourselves. But sometimes, it feels like we're not doing enough to show that love. It's not just about the Golden Rule, but also about being salt and light in a world that's sorely needing it.

Remember when Jesus said, "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another" (John 13:35)? That love should extend beyond our church walls and into our everyday lives. It's about more than just being polite; it's about truly caring for others, even those who might not care for us in return.

Let's pray for God to give us the strength and courage to be that light, to be that love, in a world that's crying out for it. Let's ask Him to help us see others through His eyes, to love them as He loves us. And let's encourage each other to keep shining, no matter how dark the world may seem.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Lord please take away my suspicions about a person who will not reveal their true identity to me. Take away the veil that they chose to operate under while trying to convince me of something else. Don't let them cause me any more emotional trauma or confusion that they've already caused. Please...
