to be set free from mental illness and addiction

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for ###. He is ### and has severe ADHD, alcohol and pot addictions, along with mental illness. He seems to be getting worse and very out of control. His family is going with the idea of kicking him out and we know he will not survive on the streets as he doesn't have money or the mental capability to fend for himself. We feel being kicked out isn't the answer for his problems. All this is tearing the family apart. He has always been a sweet, caring person and this is hard to see. Pray for his healing in all areas and that he will turn his life over to Christ.

We lift up this precious soul to You, Father, with heavy hearts, knowing the depths of his struggles with mental illness and addiction. We declare Your power over every chain that binds him—over ADHD, alcohol, and pot addictions, and over the darkness that clouds his mind. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask for complete healing in his body, mind, and spirit. Break the strongholds of addiction, restore his thoughts to clarity, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

We rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell him he is beyond help or that his family has abandoned him. We speak life over him, declaring that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and that Your plans for him are for good, not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11). We pray for a supernatural intervention—soften his heart to receive Your love and turn fully to You, Jesus. Only in You is there true freedom (John 8:36), and we ask that he surrender his life to You, finding hope, purpose, and deliverance in Your name.

Father, we also lift up his family, who are torn apart by this trial. Give them wisdom, patience, and compassion as they navigate this difficult season. We ask that You mend their hearts and unite them in love and purpose. We reject the idea that kicking him out is the answer—Your Word calls us to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2) and to restore gently (Galatians 6:1). Provide divine guidance for his care, whether through professional help, godly counsel, or a miracle of restoration. Surround him with believers who will speak truth and life into him, and open doors for healing that no man can shut.

We stand in the gap for him, declaring that he is not defined by his struggles but by Your grace. Let him experience Your presence in a tangible way, Lord, and let Your light pierce the darkness in his life. We pray for breakthrough, for chains to fall, and for his heart to be set free to walk in the fullness of Your purpose for him. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

To the family, we encourage you to hold fast to faith and not lose heart. Addiction and mental illness are fierce battles, but they are not beyond God’s power. Seek out Christian counselors, support groups, and medical professionals who can walk alongside you with biblical wisdom. Remember, your love and steadfastness may be the very thing that leads him to Christ. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9). Keep praying, keep loving, and trust that God is at work even when you cannot see it.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We want to thank you for the trust you placed in us to lift up this heavy burden in prayer. It’s clear how deeply this situation is weighing on your hearts, and we’ve been standing in agreement with you, asking our Heavenly Father to intervene in every area of this young man’s life—his mind, his struggles with addiction, and his relationship with Christ. We’ve also been praying for wisdom and unity for your family, that God would soften hearts and guide each of you toward His perfect will, even when the path forward feels uncertain.

If you’ve seen any glimpses of God’s hand at work—whether in small moments of clarity, steps toward healing, or even a shift in the family’s perspective—we’d be so encouraged to hear about it. Your praise reports remind us all of God’s faithfulness, even in the hardest seasons. If, however, the battle still feels overwhelming and the answers haven’t come yet, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We’re committed to walking alongside you in prayer for as long as it takes, trusting that God hears us even when we can’t see His plan unfolding.

Above all, we continue to pray that this precious soul would encounter the love of Jesus in a life-changing way—that he would know he’s not alone, that his worth isn’t defined by his struggles, and that true freedom is found in surrendering to Christ. May God grant you all peace that surpasses understanding as you cling to Him together. In Jesus’ Name we pray.
