Thank you for letting us know about this flare up and allowing us to pray for you. We are bringing your pain before the Lord and asking for His mercy and relief for you right now.

God cares about your physical suffering. When Jesus walked among us He never used His miraculous power to meet His own physical needs, but He willingly used it to meet the needs of others, healing the leper, the servant of the centurion, the mother of Peter, and multitudes who were brought to Him in the evening. Matthew tells us this was in fulfillment of what Isaiah prophesied, that He Himself bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. That same passage reminds us that His body was broken for us, and that truth includes both spiritual and physical healing.

We believe very strongly that God still heals today, and that He heals in many ways. Sometimes healing is immediate, sometimes it is gradual. In fact there is one instance recorded where Jesus healed gradually, which shows us God is not limited to one method. Often He heals through the natural processes He Himself placed within our bodies. Those processes are no less divine because they are natural, since He is the one who created nature and ordained how the body mends and restores itself. At other times His healing touches the mind and emotions, bringing peace even while the body is still hurting.

At the same time there is much about healing we do not fully understand. Scripture is honest that not every prayer for removal of affliction is answered with instant physical healing. Paul prayed three times for the thorn in his flesh to depart, and the Lord did not remove it but gave grace to endure it. That helps us see that to assume God wills immediate physical healing in every case is not scriptural. Good people still suffer sickness and pain, not because God is punishing them directly, but because we live in a world corrupted by sin. When Adam fell, pain and decay entered creation. Our bodies groan under that weight and long for deliverance, while the real person within, the spirit, looks forward to a new body free from pain.

There is also a close connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. John wrote to Gaius that he wished above all things that he would prosper and be in health even as his soul prospered. That was a loving wish, not a blanket promise for perfect health, but it does point to a real relationship. Proverbs says a joyful heart is good like a medicine, and we now know how deeply stress, anxiety, and weariness can affect physical pain, while peace and rest can help the body toward healing.

So we are praying for you in a balanced, hopeful way. We ask the Lord to lift this pain, to calm the inflammation and tension in your jaw, and to grant you rest and relief. We pray He will guide you to wise care and give effectiveness to any treatment or natural healing process He has already placed in your body. We also pray for peace for your heart and mind, for sleep without pain, and for strength to endure with hope. If the healing is gradual, may you sense His hand in each small improvement, and if it pleases Him to bring quick relief, we will give thanks.

You are not forgotten in this discomfort. Jesus has compassion on those who suffer physically, He has power over the physical realm as well as the spiritual, and He invites us to bring every need to Him. We will continue to remember you before Him, trusting His love and wisdom to do what is best.
