Tired and need a holiday

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I haven't been to the seaside for seven years, nor have I had a holiday for two years. I miss the sea and travelling a little. Please pray in Jesus name that God provides me with an opportunity to rest somewhere else (near the sea or in the mountains). You can also pray for inner rest if you wish, but if you really want to pray with me, then pray for travel.Thank you!

We hear your weariness and longing for rest, and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord. The Scriptures remind us in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." God knows your need for renewal, both in body and spirit, and He invites you to trust Him with your cares.

We also recognize the desire for a change of scenery, whether by the sea or in the mountains, as a good and natural longing. Psalm 23:2-3 says, "He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul." The Lord delights in refreshing His children, and we pray He would open doors for you to experience His provision in this way.

Father, we lift up this dear one before You, asking that You would grant them an opportunity for rest and travel according to Your will. Provide the means, the time, and the peace to step away from daily burdens and into Your presence. Whether through a physical journey or the quiet stillness of Your Spirit, restore their strength and renew their joy. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, who alone is our source of true rest.

If there are financial or logistical concerns holding you back, we encourage you to bring those to the Lord as well. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Trust Him to make a way where there seems to be no way.

May you find comfort in knowing that God sees your weariness and longs to meet you in it. Keep your heart open to His leading, and may He surprise you with His goodness in the days ahead.

We hear how weary you are, and that specific longing for the sea after ### years, it’s the kind of ache that sits deep in your bones. When everyday demands drain us for so long without a real change of scenery, it’s not selfish to need a break; it’s how we’re made. We weren’t designed to run on empty, and missing the rhythms of rest and travel you once knew is a genuine loss worth bringing to God.

What stands out to us is that you didn’t just ask for vague relief, you named it: the sea, the mountains, travel, a different place. That clarity can itself be a prayer rising, and we’re joining you in it. While you wait, perhaps you could do one small thing that keeps that hope alive: look at a map, research a modest guesthouse near the coast or a mountain town you’ve never visited, and set it before the Lord as a tangible request. Not as pressure to make it happen yourself, but as an act of faith that he sees your need and can open a door you’d never expect.

In the meantime, the tiredness you feel is real, and meeting it with rest, even micro-rest, is wise stewardship of the body and spirit God gave you. A short walk, a few minutes with your eyes closed listening to waves online, or a quiet evening with no screens can help your soul breathe until that bigger rest arrives.

Lord Jesus, you see this aching weariness and the longing for salt air and unfamiliar horizons. Provide an opportunity for real travel and rest, near the sea or in the mountains, open a way where there seems to be none. Grant small oases of peace now in the waiting, and restore what constant demands have worn thin. We ask this in your name.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The frame tires and the spirit longs for a change of scene, for the eye has been fixed too long upon the same walls. Yet this craving for the sight of the sea or the hills is but the voice of a deeper need. We who have believed do enter into rest, a present rest, not one deferred to some distant holiday. It is a rest given when we come to Jesus, given there and then, and it is perfect rest too. The soul that rests in Christ has already come to the great ocean of divine love; why should it pine so sorely for a few drops of salt water? I do not chide you for the longing, for I know that our mortal nature must have change or it will stagnate, but I would set your feet upon a higher rock.

True rest to the mind of the child of God is rest on the wing, rest in motion, rest in service, not rest with the yoke off, but with the yoke on. There is a rest of God, and we enter it even now, and it is perfectly consistent with labour. The Lord does not mean that He will make you lazy; lazy people never know what rest means. But if you labour, you shall find that in the very service there is repose, like birds that sleep upon the wing. The rest the Saviour gives is not the rest of a holiday alone, but the deep, abiding rest of a soul that trusts Him with every care, even the care for a season of bodily refreshment.

The text does not say "rest in a provision" but "rest in the Lord", in the Lord Himself. Ambition spoils rest; the constant greed of novelty puts rest out of the question. Contentment is perfect satisfaction with our earthly lot. Yet I do believe the Lord who satisfies your poor soul with the bread of heaven will not deny you the sincere desire for a modest journey. He knows our frame; He remembers we are dust. The rest He gives is rest about everything, rest at all times. I will pray with you, not merely for an inner calm, but for this very opportunity for travel and release, that you might stand by the sea and know again that His mercies are as vast and as unfathomable. If He grants the outward refreshment, it shall be sweet because it comes from His hand, a token that He heeds the sighing of the prisoner who has looked so long upon a single landscape. Return unto thy rest, O my soul, even in the planning and waiting, for that rest shall be glorious.

Your longing for the sea and the mountains is known to God, and it is no sin to feel the weight of weariness. But let us not set our hearts too much on a change of place, for the rest that creation offers is fleeting. The true rest is that of the soul, the green pastures and still waters where the Good Shepherd leads His own, where sorrow and sighing flee away. That rest remains for the people of God, and we labor to enter it not by travel, but by faith working through love.

I will pray with you for an opportunity to travel, that God in His mercy may grant refreshment to your body. Yet I beseech you, more earnestly covet the rest that never fades. Do not be like those who envy the dwellers in mountains and caves while pursuing the empty pleasures of the world. The narrow road leads to life; the broad way, though strewn with comforts, ends in tribulation. If He provides a season by the sea, receive it with thanksgiving, but let not your hope rest there. For the virtue of contentment and charity surpasses all gifts; though one have faith to remove mountains, without love it is nothing.

Pray then for inner rest, and I will join you. Let your heart say, “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures,” and whether by the shore or in your daily toil, you will find the peace that this world cannot give. Fear not, only believe, and He will steady you in every weariness.

It is deeply wearying to carry on without respite, and the longing you describe, for the sea, for travel, for a change of scenery, is real and understandable. The body and mind can grow so tired that even the memory of rest feels distant. I will certainly pray that God opens a door for you to get away, to stand before the waves or the mountains and let your soul breathe again. He knows our frame and remembers we are dust, and there is nothing wrong with asking Him for this good gift.

But as I lift that request, I also want to speak to the deeper weariness you mentioned almost in passing, the need for inner rest. The truth is, a holiday can refresh the body for a season, but it cannot quiet the turmoil of a restless heart. There is a rest far more profound than any coastline can provide, a rest God Himself has promised to His people. The Scriptures hold out an invitation to enter into His rest, a state where you cease from your own labors and striving, not because the problems vanish, but because you have placed everything in hands far stronger than your own. That rest is entered through simple faith, trusting that what Jesus accomplished on the cross was enough, and that His will for you is good even when the path is unclear.

It is easy to think, "If I could just see God working, if He would just show me the plan, then I could relax." But that is not how faith rests. Faith rests without the full picture. It stops fretting over outcomes and stops trying to work everything out with human effort. Like Israel in the wilderness, we often fail to enter His rest because of unbelief, we refuse to trust Him with the very things He has promised to handle. That failure leaves us filled with anxiety, churning inside even when our surroundings are peaceful. So while I am praying for an opportunity for you to travel, I am praying even more that you will discover what it means to rest in Christ right now, in the middle of the tiredness. When you commit your ways to Him and truly leave them there, a quiet confidence takes root. You know He will bring His will to pass, and you stop trying to be the one who holds everything together.

Do not let your heart grow hard through the disappointment of waiting. The promise of rest remains. Where you feel you have run out of resources and the weariness has piled up like a heavy burden, that is precisely the place where you learn to rest on God alone. Let the desire for travel be a prayer you place in His care, without panic or demand. He knows. But let your primary pursuit be the rest of soul that belongs to those who have ceased from their own frantic works and have settled into the finished work of Jesus. That is a refreshing that can sustain you whether you are at home or standing by the sea.
