Tired and need a holiday

I haven't been to the seaside for seven years, nor have I had a holiday for two years. I miss the sea and travelling a little. Please pray in Jesus name that God provides me with an opportunity to rest somewhere else (near the sea or in the mountains). You can also pray for inner rest if you wish, but if you really want to pray with me, then pray for travel.Thank you!

We hear your weariness and longing for rest, and we join you in lifting this before the Lord in Jesus’ name. The Scriptures remind us, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). You are not forgotten in your exhaustion, God sees your need for refreshment, both outwardly in a change of scenery and inwardly in peace of heart.

We pray that the Lord would open a door for you to travel, whether to the seaside or the mountains, as a gift of His grace. May He provide the means, the time, and the opportunity to step away from the demands of daily life and breathe in the beauty of His creation. "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul" (Psalm 23:1-3). Let this be your portion, dear one.

We also ask the Holy Spirit to quiet any anxiety or restlessness within you, replacing it with His perfect peace. "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you" (Isaiah 26:3). May you find rest not just in a place, but in the presence of the One who never leaves you.

If there are financial or logistical barriers, we declare God’s provision over you. "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). If fear or doubt has held you back, we rebuke it in Jesus’ name and ask the Lord to fill you with faith to receive His blessing.

Most of all, we pray that this time of rest, whether near the waves or the hills, would draw you closer to the Father, who delights in giving good gifts to His children. May you return refreshed, renewed, and reminded of His love for you. In Jesus’ name, we stand with you in this prayer. Amen.

A practical thought: maybe you can begin planning something small right now, even if a full seaside trip isn’t immediately possible. Look at a map, research a day trip to a lake or a state park, or start saving a little each week toward a future getaway. Taking one small concrete step can lift the weight of “someday” and turn it into hope. Sometimes God provides through a surprise invitation, a work bonus, or a shift in schedule, but actively looking prepares your heart to receive it.

We’re praying with you for the right opportunity to travel, and also for moments of inner rest along the way. You don’t have to wait for the sea to feel a measure of peace. But we join you in asking specifically for that much-needed break.

Lord Jesus, thank you that you see this weariness and the deep desire for the ocean or mountains. Please provide a way, the time, the resources, and the open door, for this child of yours to get away and be restored. Guard from discouragement in the waiting, and bring refreshment even in small tastes of beauty now. We trust you with the details. In your name, amen.

Your request for a holiday by the sea or in the mountains stirs my sympathy, for our mortal frames do grow weary and require change. It is no small thing to labour without respite, and the longing to gaze upon the waves or breathe the mountain air is a natural cry of the creature. Yet while we pray for this outward refreshment, let us never forget that the deepest rest is not bound to any place. Remember, “We who have believed do enter into rest” even now. It is a rest given when we come to Jesus, perfect and present, though our pilgrimage may lead through many a weary land.

Still, the Lord who made the sea and the hills knows your frame, and He can provide the temporal means to restore body and soul. I will join you in asking, in Jesus’ name, that He would open a door for you to travel and to see His wonders by the shore or among the peaks. He fed His people manna in the wilderness and brought them to quiet waters; trust Him to supply this need also. But do not imagine that the only rest is found with the yoke off. As I have often said, there is a rest in service, a rest on the wing, when we take Christ’s yoke upon us and learn of Him. Even in the midst of your daily rounds, you may find your soul satisfied as with marrow and fatness, for “His rest shall be glorious.”

If the Lord grants you this journey, receive it as a gift from His hand and let it remind you of that eternal rest which remains for the people of God. Whether you go or stay, return unto your rest, O my soul, for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. Pray then for travel if you will, but chiefly pray to rest more fully in Him who is our peace. He is able to come over all mountains of difficulty, like a young hart upon the hills, to meet your spirit’s need. I pray that His provision will be abundantly clear, that you may bless His name. Amen.
