Tired and need a holiday

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I haven't been to the seaside for seven years, nor have I had a holiday for two years. I miss the sea and travelling a little. Please pray in Jesus name that God provides me with an opportunity to rest somewhere else (near the sea or in the mountains). You can also pray for inner rest if you wish, but if you really want to pray with me, then pray for travel.Thank you!

We hear the weariness in your words, dear brother or sister, and we lift your request before the Lord with great compassion. The longing for rest and the beauty of God’s creation, whether the sea or the mountains, is a gift from Him, for He Himself invites us to come away and find refreshment in His presence. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Your desire for a time of renewal is not frivolous; it is a holy longing that aligns with God’s heart for His children.

We pray now, in the mighty name of Jesus, that the Lord would open a door for you to step away from the demands of daily life and into a place of peace. Father, You are the God who led Your people to rest by still waters (Psalm 23:2), and we ask that You would lead this beloved one to a place where their soul can be restored. Whether by the sea or in the quiet of the mountains, provide an opportunity for them to breathe deeply, to marvel at Your handiwork, and to draw near to You. Remove any financial or logistical barriers that may stand in the way, and grant them favor in the eyes of those who might help make this possible.

We also pray for inner rest, for true peace is not merely the absence of labor but the presence of Christ dwelling richly within. May the Holy Spirit quiet the anxieties and weariness of their heart, reminding them that their worth is not found in productivity but in being a beloved child of God. "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest," the Lord declares (Exodus 33:14). Let this promise sink deep into their spirit.

And to you, we say: do not despise the small beginnings. Even a short respite, a day trip to a nearby shore or a weekend in the hills, can be a sacred gift from the Lord. Trust that He sees your need and delights in meeting it. Keep your heart open to the ways He may provide, whether through unexpected generosity, a kind invitation, or even a moment of solitude in His creation that feels like a taste of heaven.

Finally, we rebuke any spirit of discouragement or doubt that may whisper lies about your worth or your ability to receive this blessing. You are not forgotten. You are not overlooked. The same God who numbers the hairs on your head also knows the desires of your heart (Luke 12:7). Walk in faith, and let your longing be a prayer that rises to His throne.

Lord, we thank You for this dear one’s trust in You. We ask that You would surprise them with Your goodness, that they would feel the wind of Your Spirit carrying them toward rest, and that their time away, however brief, would be a holy pause that strengthens them for the journey ahead. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We hear how tired you are, and how deeply you miss the sea. Seven years is a long time to go without that kind of refreshment, and two years without any holiday at all would wear anyone down. Your desire to travel a little and rest somewhere beautiful is not frivolous, it’s a real human need, and God knows that. He built rhythms of rest into creation for a reason, and your longing for the coast or the mountains echoes that simply.

We’re praying with you that God would open a door for travel, whether through a financial provision, an unexpected invitation, or a creative way to slip away even for a short time. In the meantime, maybe start exploring possibilities: look at maps, research modest trips, and let the dreaming itself become a little act of hope. Sometimes that’s the first step God uses to stir up a path.

Father, thank you for this person’s honest weariness and for the beautiful longing for your creation, the sea, the mountains, a change of scene. We ask in Jesus’ name that you provide a tangible opportunity to get away and rest, to feel the salt breeze or the mountain air, and to have their soul restored. Open whatever doors are needed, time, resources, courage, and guard this hope until it comes to pass. In the meantime, sustain them with glimpses of your care and the promise that you give good gifts. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The heart grows weary when it is long shut in from the beauty of God's creation, the great sea, the lasting hills, and your longing for travel is no small thing, for He made both body and soul and knows your frame. Yet I must first set before you a deeper truth: there is a rest which is given, present and perfect, the moment a soul comes to Christ and lays its burden down. Have you entered that rest? It is not rest after death, nor after a time of probation, but rest now, the rest of the mind fixed upon Him, the rest of trust. If you have this, then you may rightly ask the Lord for the renewal of your body through a change of scene, for even our blessed Lord took His disciples apart to a desert place to rest a while.

But see to it that your desire for the seaside or the mountains does not become a rest you seek apart from Him, as if the mere shifting of outward circumstances could quiet the soul. True rest is rest on the wing, rest in motion, rest in service, it is taking Christ’s yoke upon you and finding it easy. So pray thus: “Lord, if it please Thee, send me Thine own relief in the form of travel; but even while I stay, be Thyself my resting place.” For the ungodly rest in their sins, but the believer rests in God, and that is a rest which endures whether he be by the sounding sea or in a crowded city.

I will pray with you for the travel you miss. It is not mischief to ask bread for the body when your soul has first learned to feast on Christ. Even the young hart upon the mountains of Bether suggests how Christ can bound over dividing hills to meet His beloved; how easy it is for Him to open a door to the coast or the hills for a wearied child. Cry to Him, “Come over the mountains of my difficulties, make a way where there is no way.” And we will ask together that He might provide, in His season, a seasonable holiday, even as He satisfied the poor with bread. There are no Monday mornings in heaven, but while you are here, a taste of that rest through His kindness in travel may strengthen you for the days ahead.

Yet mark this: if He should deny the outward journey, He will not deny the inward. “Trust and you shall rest.” Labor for the Lord Jesus even in your weariness, and you may sleep upon the wing. Return then to your rest, O soul, and take up the prayer for travel as a child asks a Father who knows what is good. He can make His rest glorious for you, whether by a cottage window at home or by the waves He holds in the hollow of His hand. I pray He grants you the desires of your heart, and in the granting or the denying, teaches you to say, “He is my eternal rest.”

You speak of being tired and of longing for the sea and the mountains, for a change of scene and a season of repose. That ache is something I recognize well, for how often have I seen among the people a weariness that cries out for escape. Yet consider what the Scripture says: “There remaineth therefore a rest for the people of God.” That rest is not chiefly a place of sand and water, or of cool high peaks. Those things, though pleasant to the senses, are but shadows. The true rest is the soul’s Sabbath, the quiet of a heart united to Christ, where, as the Psalmist sings, “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, He leadeth me beside the still waters.” Do not imagine that mere travel can give what you seek. I have observed many who have fled to the theatre, to the mountains, to the coasts, hoping to find refreshment, and they return with darts of sorrow sharper than before, because the unrest was within. If the soul is storm-tossed, no outward scene can calm it.

That is why I must urge you, not to cease from praying about your weariness, but to ask first for that inner rest which the Holy Spirit alone bestows. When the Spirit overshadows the soul, it needs no holiday; it carries peace into every circumstance. Remember the woman with the issue of blood: her faith brought healing and peace without a journey. Remember how Christ said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Fear not, only believe.” Your true resting place is the will of God, wherever you are. So I do pray with you, but I pray first that you may find that charity and contentment which makes every place a sanctuary. Then, if it pleases the Lord to grant you a time away by the sea or the hills, receive it as a further kindness. But do not set your hope on it. For the love of money or ease can make a man wretched even in paradise, while the love of God makes a prison a palace. Therefore labor to enter that rest, lest anyone fall through the same example of unbelief. May the God of love and peace be with you and give you true refreshment, inward and, in His good time, outward as well.

Your heart’s longing for the sea and the mountains speaks of a deep need for renewal, and God made both. The vast waters and towering peaks are His handiwork, and it’s no small thing to miss them. I will pray that He opens a door for you to travel and be refreshed in a place of beauty, whether by the shore or among the hills.

Yet your request also touches something deeper: the weariness that even a holiday cannot fully cure. Scripture holds out a rest more profound than any landscape can provide. It’s the rest that comes not from a change of scenery but from ceasing to carry the weight of your own efforts and simply trusting in the finished work of Jesus. The promise remains: “There is a rest for the people of God.” It’s entered by faith, not by striving or a flurry of plans, but by believing that Christ has done everything needed for your peace with God. He Himself is our Sabbath; in Him we can lay down our inner turmoil and find quietness for our souls.

So while I ask the Lord to make a way for your travel and give you days of physical rest, I pray even more that you experience what it is to rest where God rests. When the dove found no place for the sole of her foot, the ark remained her refuge. In the same way, when weariness like a storm-tossed sea churns inside, Jesus is our refuge. Enter that rest, receive it as a gift, not an achievement, and you may find that whether you go or stay, His peace keeps you steady.
