Tired and need a holiday

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I haven't been to the seaside for seven years, nor have I had a holiday for two years. I miss the sea and travelling a little. Please pray in Jesus name that God provides me with an opportunity to rest somewhere else (near the sea or in the mountains). You can also pray for inner rest if you wish, but if you really want to pray with me, then pray for travel.Thank you!

We hear your weariness and longing for rest, and we join you in bringing this before the Lord in Jesus' name. The Scriptures remind us that our Heavenly Father knows our needs even before we ask Him (Matthew 6:8), and He invites us to cast all our cares upon Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). It is good and right to bring your desire for a time of refreshment and travel before Him, for He is the One who gives rest to the weary.

The Lord Himself promises in His Word, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). This rest is not only spiritual but can also manifest in physical and emotional renewal. We pray that God would open doors for you to experience the rest and rejuvenation you seek, whether by the sea or in the mountains. May He provide the opportunity, resources, and time for you to step away and be refreshed in His creation.

At the same time, we encourage you to examine your heart and motives. While rest and travel are good gifts from God, we must ensure that our desires align with His will and that we are not seeking fulfillment in temporary things rather than in Him. The Psalmist writes, "Delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). True rest is found in Christ alone, and when we delight in Him, our desires begin to reflect His heart.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is feeling weary and in need of rest. Lord, You know the longing in their heart for a time of refreshment, and we ask that You would provide an opportunity for them to travel and experience the beauty of Your creation. Open doors that no one can shut, and grant them the means and the time to step away from their daily burdens.

Father, we also pray for inner rest. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Help them to find their ultimate rest in You, knowing that true refreshment comes from abiding in Your presence. Renew their strength, Lord, so that they may mount up with wings like eagles, run and not be weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).

We ask that You would guide their steps and lead them to a place where they can be still and know that You are God (Psalm 46:10). May this time of rest draw them closer to You and fill them with joy and gratitude for Your goodness.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We also want to gently remind you that while rest and travel are blessings, they are not the source of our ultimate joy or fulfillment. Jesus Christ is the only One who can satisfy the deepest longings of our hearts. If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life to Him, for He alone can give you the peace and rest that your soul truly craves. As Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). If you have not placed your trust in Him, we invite you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). In Him, you will find rest for your soul (Matthew 11:29).

We hear how tired you are, and that longing for the sea and for travel after so long isn't small at all, it's the ache of a soul that needs a change of scenery and a chance to breathe. Seven years is a long time to be away from something your heart keeps reaching toward.

When we're poured out and worn thin, the desire for rest isn't weakness; it's part of how we're made. Even the rhythms of creation include seasons and tides, and our own bodies and minds need the kind of renewal that sometimes only a different place can bring, salt air, open horizons, the quiet of mountains, the simple gift of being somewhere else for a while.

One practical step that might help while you wait: consider setting aside even a small amount each week toward a future trip, and perhaps browse a map or look at photos of places that draw you, not to stir up discontent, but to let yourself hope in a tangible way. Sometimes the planning itself becomes a small act of faith.

We're praying with you for that open door, and we trust that God knows the specific rest your body and spirit are crying out for.

Jesus, you see this need for rest and a change of place. You know the weariness that has settled in, and you know the simple, deep desire to stand by the sea again or breathe mountain air. Please open a way, a real opportunity for travel and refreshment. Provide the resources, the timing, and the freedom to step away from the ordinary. Until then, sustain and strengthen, and let hope stay alive in the waiting. In your name we ask this. Amen.

The heart’s cry for the sea, for the sight of waves and the breath of salt air, is understood. The frame grows weary, and the spirit longs for a change of scene. Yet consider, if the Lord should grant you a journey to the coast and your soul remains unquieted, of what lasting value would the holiday be? The worldling may stand upon the shore and feel a momentary hush, but the ache within returns when the tide goes out. His rest is a painted deception, a hollow sound when smitten. Outside of Christ, the fairest landscape is but a dream from which one wakes to emptiness. The true rest, the pearl of great price, is not tied to a place but to a Person. The promise stands, “I will give you rest.” It is rest for every part of your nature, about every care, at all times, whether by the sea or in the confines of a sick chamber.

This is not to dismiss the desire for travel, for the Lord who gave Israel Sabbaths for the land and a Jubilee of release knows our frame and remembers we are dust. He may indeed open a door for you to go apart and rest awhile, and it is not sinful to ask. But seek first the inner rest that comes by casting yourself anew upon His grace. The mountains may then become places of communion rather than mere escape, and the sea’s roar may sound out His praises. Let your prayer be, “Turn, my Beloved, and be like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether.” Let the sense of His presence break the day across your soul, and then, whether you travel or stay, you will have entered into the rest that remains for the people of God. Come unto Him, for He alone can say to the tempest in your breast, “Peace, be still.”

Let us bow together. Lord Jesus, we bring before Thee this weary one who longs for the salt spray and the mountain breeze. Thou knowest the exhaustion of the body and the fretfulness of the mind. Grant, we beseech Thee, the deepest rest of all, the rest of a soul leaning wholly upon Thy finished work, cleansed in Thy blood, and quieted by Thy love. Still the inward turmoil, and let the conscience be so perfected in Thy sacrifice that no doubt remains to gnaw at the heart. And if it be Thy will, Gracious Provider, open a door in Thy good providence for a season of refreshment by the sea or among the hills. Thou who givest us richly all things to enjoy, canst spread a table in the wilderness of our weariness. Yet if Thou withholdest the journey, grant the greater gift of Thy felt companionship, so that the soul may keep Jubilee even in its usual round. We rest in Thee, for Thou art our rest. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

I know the longing for a change of scene, for the sight of the sea and the whisper of the mountains. Weariness of body and mind can press heavily. Yet let me ask you to lift your eyes a moment: do you think the absence of travel alone has drained you? Often we imagine that a new place will bring us rest, but the heart carries its own burdens wherever the feet wander. I have seen many who pine for the caves and the mountain retreats, envying those who leave the city behind. Yet even there, bitter darts of care find them. No journey, however beautiful, can quiet the soul that is restless within.

The true resting place is the one David sang of: "He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters." That pasture is not a shoreline; it is the presence of the living God, a rest that remains for the people of God. Travel may refresh the body for a season, but the inner man longs for the rest where sorrow and sighing flee away. If we set all our hope on a holiday, we risk missing the deeper provision, the rest that comes not from a change of air but from a yielded heart.

Do not hear this as a refusal to pray for your request. I will pray, and earnestly, that if it pleases the Lord, He will open a way for you to see the sea or the hills He made, and in that beauty find temporary refreshment. But I must, in love, plead that you seek first the rest that no earthly journey can give. The narrow road of self-denial and trust leads to that rest; the broad way of constant seeking after earthly comforts often leaves the soul emptier than before.

So I lift your weariness to the Father. Lord Jesus, you know the fatigue of this precious one, the simple human need for a change and a glimpse of your creation. If it be for their good, provide an opportunity for travel and respite by the sea or among the mountains. But far more, grant them the inner rest that comes from faith working through love. Let them drink of the living water and find that their soul is refreshed even now, whether they travel or stay. For you are the master of all rest, and in you alone the heart finds its true home. Amen.

I hear the weariness in your words, and I understand the longing for the sea and mountains. God made those places, and they often draw our hearts toward refreshment. I will certainly pray, in Jesus’ name, that He would open a door for you to travel and find physical rest near the water or in the hills. It is not wrong to ask for such a gift from a Father who cares about our needs.

At the same time, Scripture points us toward a deeper rest, one that doesn’t depend on a change of location. There remains a rest for the people of God, a rest entered by faith, not by works. When we believe that Jesus has accomplished everything for our peace with God, we can cease from our own striving. That’s the true Sabbath fulfillment: not just a holy day, but a life resting in Christ’s finished work. Whether you are by the sea or still at home, that soul-rest is available right now.

You mentioned mountains, and I think of how God sometimes uses mountains as places He makes desolate, and then later speaks life into them again. Faith that trusts Him completely can move mountains, but more importantly, it can move our hearts to yield to His perfect plan. Real peace comes from that complete commitment. So I will pray for the travel you long for, and I will also pray that in this season, even before you pack a bag, you would find the inner quietness that only Jesus can give, the rest where the weary truly cease from their own labors.

Thank you for letting me pray with you. May the Lord provide the opportunity and, above all, anchor you in His unshakable rest.
